Dr. Arlene F. Williams-Persad

Dr. Arlene Faye-Ann Williams-Persad represents the core of online teaching and learning strategies in the discipline of Pharmacology. She serves as the Treasurer to the West Indian Immunological Society, and has served as a floor member at the Caribbean Academy for Sciences and as amember of the Canada Alumni Association Trinidad and Tobago (C.A.A.T.T.). As an Educator and a young Research Officer she provides quality scientific knowledge to her stakeholders. At The UWI, Arlene started at the undergraduate level and worked as a Student Assistant at the Medical Sciences Library, where she was shortly recruited by the Biochemistry Unit as a Research Assistant. On completion of her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry she secured a post at the Pharmacology Unit as a Laboratory Technician and was shortly promoted to Senior Research Technician. Dr. Williams-Persad continued her course of study to complete a Doctorate of Philosophy in Pharmacology. Her research interests are varied, with several publications ranging from in vivo studies of herbal extracts on internal organs to antibiotic stewardship, and most recently the treatment options for COVID-19 patients with comorbidities, and today she presents on the topic of treatment facts in chronic granulomatous disease. Dr. Arlene Faye-Ann Williams-Persad presently holds an academic position as Lecturer in Pharmacology at the Para-Clinical Sciences Department, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The UWI, St. Augustine.
