Margaret's interest in the environment and issues related to it started in her early school years and continued as she read for her bachelor's degree in economics and management. Following the conclusion of these studies, she completed an MSc in environmental policy and management at Lund University, Sweden, in 2002. Subsequently, she was employed by WasteServ Malta Ltd., where she was responsible for the implementation of two EU-funded projects. Margaret is now employed at the University of Malta as a lecturer and as a resident academic, holding a doctoral degree from the Universita Autonoma de Barcelona, which she obtained in 2020. Her doctoral thesis focused on waste flows and their connection with economic policies, employing tools which include material flow analysis, input-output analysis, and waste audits.
