Education: 1975: Graduated in Biological Sciences (Faculty of Sciences, University of Florence). Professional experiences (academic career): 2000 to date - Full Professor of Anatomy, University of Florence; 1991: Associate Professor of Human Anatomy, University of Florence; 1981: University Researcher in the disciplinary group n°71 (Human Anatomy), University of Florence; 1978: national grant of CNR (Italian National Research Council). Research interests: Main research fields concern skeletal and myocardial muscle tissue, with special reference to ischemia/reperfusion effects, morpho-functional changes in myocardium following infarction and cellular myoplasty, and cellular biology of myoblasts in different experimental conditions. Fellowship: member of the Anatomy and Histology Italian Society and of the Anatomischen Gesellschaft.
