Dr. Jorge Heredia-Moya is an organic chemistry researcher and professor at the Centro de Investigación Biomédica (CENBIO), Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud Eugenio Espejo, Universidad UTE, Quito, Ecuador. He is a chemist from the Universidad Central del Ecuador and received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Chile in 2004. He was a visiting fellow (2005-2009) in the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry at NIDDK, an institute of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, USA, where he worked on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of analogs of chemical neurotransmitters, hormones, and other biological regulatory agents and chemical messengers. His research focuses on synthesizing biologically active compounds, targeting the discovery of new biologically relevant small molecules.
