Studied Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics at the University of Yucatan (1977-1982) and completed a master's degree in animal nutrition (1982–1983) and a doctorate in nutrition from ruminants (1985–1988) at the University of Aberdeen, UK. Juan Carlos Ku-Vera completed a postdoctoral degree (1990-1991) in metabolism study of ruminants at the National Institute of Animal Science in Tsukuba, Japan. He has served as a teacher of ruminant feeding studies at the Autonomous Universities of Chapingo, Tamaulipas and Yucatan, and has graduated 6 bachelor's students, 31 master of science students and 14 doctorate students in science at various universities and research centers in the country. Dr. Ku-Vera has received more than fifty national and foreign students. He has given lectures and invited courses on ruminant feeding in almost every state in Mexico, and internationally in the United States of America, Germany, Spain, Japan, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Peru, among others. He has published more than fifty research articles in journals indexed in JCR and has published more than one hundred summaries in congresses on animal production in Mexico and abroad. Dr. Ku-Vera serves as a referee for articles appearing in national and international scientific journals, and as a reviewer of research projects for CONACYT (Mexico) and other international organizations.
