Francisco Centeno received his Biology Degree from the University of Extremadura in 1986 and his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Extremadura in 1991. He worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Centre de Genetique Moleculaire (CNRS) in Paris (1991–1994). In 1994, he returned to the University of Extremadura, and he was promoted to Professor in 1999. His research topics mainly include cellular signaling, MAPK, ERK, JNK, p38, cell differentiation, cell polarity, respiratory epithelium, neurodegeneration, and apoptosis.
