Check out this handy graphic to learn about Northvolt's battery recycling process ↓ At our in-house recycling facilities, we receive batteries at their end of life, as well as manufacturing waste, from which we recover valuable raw materials, in addition to copper, aluminium and plastics. By co-locating our recycling facilities alongside our gigafactories, we are able to immediately recirculate materials back into production – closing the loop on batteries. In Stockholm, machinery, such as construction equipment, accounts for approximately 18% of the city’s carbon footprint. To pave a path towards a more sustainable future, City of Stockholm and Peab have joined forces to establish an emission-free construction site in the borough of Södermalm. Key to this vision is access to enough grid power to keep the electric machinery charged to work throughout the day. That’s where the importance of energy storage and sufficient charging infrastructure comes in. In addressing this charging challenge, our collaboration with Finnish charging solution provider Plugit Finland presents a powerful new solution. Powered by Voltpack Mobile technology, consisting of three Voltpack Cores, the Plugit Pro Mobile is a compact, fast-charging station with energy storage that can be installed quickly and easily, without the need for concrete foundations. From 100 meters to 4500 meters! The picture shows our current team lined up by date of hire. In a few years, the line will be much longer, stretching from the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall to the Elbstrand in Hamburg. As we will scale fast, it is more than important to strengthen our cultural foundation right from the start. Therefore, the entire Northvolt Drei team took time this week to dive deep into our core values: boldness, passion and excellence.

Cuberg recently published a validation report of its first-generation lithium-metal battery module. The results are a testament to the exceptional performance of Cuberg's lithium-metal technology and represent the world’s first third-party validation of a lithium-metal battery module. Last week, we joined Scania Group’s Sustainable Transport Forum, hosted in the Stockholm archipelago. Drawing together industrial actors, sustainability experts and public policy groups, the event served as an important reminder of the stark circumstances we face in the global climate crisis. At the same time, the analysis, perspectives and outlook shared during the day highlighted how and where positive impacts are being made. Bold actions are required in the development of a more sustainable society, and we’re proud to be partnered with Scania in enabling this future. We’re incredibly proud of our colleagues over at Cuberg for yesterday's release of a validation report covering their first-generation lithium-metal battery module. The results highlight the exceptional performance of Cuberg's lithium-metal technology and represent the world’s first third-party validation of a lithium-metal battery module. While a testament to the performance of lithium-metal technology, the results also mark a significant step forward in the industrialization of this emerging technology — something which is key as we look beyond aviation applications for lithium-metal technology.
