The exhibition 17seventeen describes the climax of an experimental creative period of Paulina Kubiak's work in 2020 on the rigorous path to finding a characteristic expression and an artistically recognizable formal language.

17 works on the path to adulthood, which knows no date and yet for Paulina Kubiak begins in the spring of 2021.

Recycling is all about taking a material and turning it back into itself, but newer, different.

And as we emerge from the old normal into a new one, it's an opportunity to look at how we do things - how we can improve, change and adapt.

Take the old ways and make them the better ways.

During this summer term students of the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle developed positions on computational design and disseminated its impacts on aesthetics and society. Due to Corona restrictions the discourse was held mostly online and non-physical. Everybody gained insight into digital design strategies by delving into Grasshopper, a Rhino 3D tool for parametric design.

Within a short design sprint the students created a series of objects that have one thing in common: holes. When is a hole a hole? How holey can an object be? The results are exhibited in the Shutdown Gallery.

A virus cannot discriminate. It cannot be racist or homophobic or classist or ableist.

Queer and trans people survive not as individuals, but as a community. That community is represented on this flag and on these walls. Those identities are art. Their pride is a revolution.

Photography creates distance, alienates and at the same time allows us to forever preserve a brief moment of our present through the lens of nostalgia. As a means of intentional limitation, the viewfinder allows us to change perspective. To escape into the role of the observer and take on a mediated confrontation with the world.

Regaining control over what’s happening and opening our eyes to a different present is what comes along with a decreasing density of experience.

The „Poster 2.0“ is much more than a surface with type, colors and images on it: It is an interactive application, animated, audible, data driven and intermedial.

Our world is changing at a breathtaking pace. New technologies cause fundamental transformations. Now is the time to get creative! To find new ways to deal with change and disruption. To discover, evaluate and develop new, valuable opportunities.
