Acrivastine

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Acrivastine (brand name in the UK: Benadryl Allergy Relief) is an antihistamine medicine that helps the symptoms of allergies.[1] When acrivastine is mixed with pseudoephedrine, it is called Benadryl Allergy Relief Plus Decongestant.[1] Some Benadryl products do not contain acrivastine, but a different antihistamine such as cetirizine. It can sometimes be used to treat hay fever, conjunctivitis (red, itchy eyes), eczema and hives (urticaria). It is also used for reactions to insect bites and stings and for some food allergies.[1]

Acrivastine is known as a non-drowsy antihistamine. It is less likely to make people feel sleepy than some other antihistamines.[1] It comes as capsules. Sometimes it is combined with a decongestant called pseudoephedrine to unblock the nose and sinuses.[1]
