      The Sioux City Council is expected to vote Monday on a resolution announcing the city's intent to accept a local nonprofit organization's proposal to construct a cognitive behavioral therapy and faith-based inpatient treatment center. The council will also consider an extension for LAMB Arts to remove items from the former Webster School.

      South Sioux City Public Library is in the beginning phases of planning a projected $2 million renovation. Director Cicely Douglas said she would like to see work happen in the next two years. "There's been no renovations since it was built in 2004."

      At a special convention Wednesday, the Iowa Democratic Party nominated Rosanne Plante of Hinton to run for the Iowa House District 13 seat which includes parts of the counties of Cherokee, Plymouth and Woodbury and all of Monona County.

      SIOUX CITY -- The Sioux City Council voted Monday to reject the lone bid for a project that would add anaerobic digestion capacity to the beleaguered wastewater treatment plant because the price came in nearly double the city engineer's estimate. 

      The Crittenton Center has been awarded a $2.5 million federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to support the launch and operation of a comprehensive street outreach program dedicated to assisting runaway, homeless and street youth.

      The city of Sioux City is piloting a new odor control system at the Riverside lift station, which, if successful, could help eliminate an unpleasant stench that has kept some residents from enjoying their backyards and selling their homes. Tom Pingel, the city's utility director in charge of the wastewater treatment plant, said the lift station at 1120 Florence Ave. is the "most complained about odor in town."
