SIOUX CITY -- The Elk Creek Road construction project is expected to begin Monday, according to a statement from the Sioux City Engineering Division.
The project, which is anticipated to be completed in mid-October, includes the construction of new paving on Elk Creek Road and improvements to the intersection -- construction of new water mains, storm sewer, sidewalk crossings and a roundabout to improve traffic flows.
The project was awarded to Bainbridge Construction, LLC on June 3 in the amount of $1,419,784.22.
Construction will be completed in two stages. Stage 1 will close Elk Creek Road between Christy Road and Singing Hills Boulevard, while Stage 2 will close the intersection of Christy Road/Old Lakeport Road/Southern Hills Road to through traffic.
Motorists can use Christy Road, Sunnybrook Drive, Sergeant Road, South Lakeport Street and Singing Hills Boulevard as a detour.
