Snow Beautiful

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out, and this time around, it is an Inspired By Words challenge. Our inspiration is a haiku poem by Matsuo Basho, one of the most famous Zen poets of Japan, who alerts us to the neglected beauty and interest of everyday life. The poem is entitled Winter Solitude.

Winter solitude -
In a world of one colour
the sound of the wind.

Matsuo Basho

We are generously sponsored by Stamp Simply. The Stamp Simply Store is one stop shop for beautiful papers, ribbon, stamps, embellishments and supplies enabling you to simply create cards, altered items and scrapbook pages. Challenge winner as chosen by our Design Team will win a $25.00 store credit and an offer to Guest Design with us for a future challenge.

For my card, I used Stamp Simply Snowflake Blessings Border Strip clear stamp set. I embossed the border with silver embossing powder on navy cardstock. I popped the border strip on to White Lava Holographic Cardstock that had been dry embossed with Simon Says Stamp Snowflake Visions embossing folder. I die cut the smallest of Pinkfresh Folk Edge Circles from Soft Sky cardstock, stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set, popped it up on the card front, and my card was complete.

Please head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog and see what Fran and the Design Team have come up with to inspire you. I am excited to see how the poem is interpreted. Please remember that in order to be considered for the win, linking to other challenges is limited to 5 including ours. Our challenge rules are listed on the sidebar of the challenge blog. I hope to see you in the gallery!

Christmas Cardinal

It's time for a new Challenge at The Four Seasons. We have moved on to Winter. As always, we have a mood board for inspiration but you can create anything as long as it has a WINTER theme.

I was inspired by that plump cardinal sitting on the mailbox backed with all those lovely pines. To create my card, I used a newly acquired Cardinal die paired with an embossed background and hot foiled sentiment that had been sitting in my snippet box.

Please head on over to the Challenge Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. Then grab a cuppa, put on some music, and start creating! See you in the gallery!

Love Your Heart

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something using just the three (or more) elements selected.

Today's festivities are in celebration of International Polar Bear Day, which is celebrated on February 27th. The challenge runs from February 5 - February 15.

For my Polar Bear themed project, I used: bear, blue, snowflakes and sentiment from the inspo list. The trees and snow are cur from white glitter paper using the Birch Trees Cover Plate by Julie Ebersole from Essentials By Ellen. That sweet bear is from All Inside, and his little hot cup is from Bear Ware 3, also by Julie Ebersole from Essentials By Ellen. My bear scene is mounted on a sheet of blue foiled card stock. The snowy sky is made from blended Distress Oxide inks and spatters of Mister Huey's Opaque White Color Mist. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Strips and die cut with a Sentiment Strip Die from Pink & Main. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110# card stock.

Warm Holiday Greetings

There's a new challenge out there that I have really been wanting to play. I finally had the time today.

On October 10th, Jo of Just a Dotty Pudding and Gail of Crafty Nomad started their new and aptly named challenge: Let's Squash It!. It's all about using embossing folders. That is GENIUS! I am excited to enter Challenge #3 today - Use Any Embossing Folder And Dies/Fussy Cutting.

I must say, I am very pleased with this card. Before I completed it, I thought it might be too busy, but I don't think that is the case. I die cut a panel of Linen card stock with Hero Arts Snowflake Confetti Fancy Die and backed it with a piece of white glitter paper. I then die cut Uniko's Sparkling Snowflake Designer Die from Gina K's  Ocean Mist Pure Luxury Card Stock. Before lifting the snowflake out of the cut, I placed it in a Cuttlebug embossing folder with a quilt/snowflake design from the deep, dark recesses of my Christmas stash, and ran it through my Cuttlebug (it's still chugging along). I sprayed it with shimmer spray, popped it up and mounted it on the die cut snowflake panel. The sentiment is from SSS Tiny Words Christmas. It's heat embossed in silver on black card stock, and die cut with a Pink & Main Sentiment Strip Die.

Wishing Jo and Gail  good luck and LOTS of fun with this challenge. I hope to play as often as I can. I hope you are encouraged to dig into your stash, pull out some embossing folders and do some squashing!

Frosty

Hello and Happy New Year!!
It's a new year, and a ner decade, and time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS. Our Code Word for ATCAS Challenge #176 is FROSTY, and I am the hostess!

Our Guest Designer is the amazingly talented Julie Beech of Crafted By Jules. Julie is such a great designer and a lovely person. Take a stroll through her blog for a heap of wonderful inspiration - you will be so glad you did.

For my card, I chose this red rubber, wood mounted stamp from deep, deep in my stash (Hero Arts, I think). The funny thing about it is that it is a snowman sitting on a frosted cupcake - hence the "frosty". Just cracks me up somehow. I have a weird sense of humor... So had to use it for this code word that I chose. I stamped the image on the card base, then stamped it again, colored it with Copics, and fussy cut it out. I then mounted with with foam tape to give it some dimension. I added some shadowing beneath the image,a nd some glitter pen snow. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Please head on over to the ATCAS Challenge Blog, take a look at the wonderful inspiration pieces Julie and the Design Team have created for your inspiration, and make something to share in the gallery. Challenge winner will be offered a Guest Designer spot for a future challenge. Happy crafting!

Please remember that this is a CAS challenge. Here is a definition to remind you:

Peace

The January Challenge is up and running at Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge. The theme is Anything Goes, and the twist is: REINDEER. For my card, I used a Stampin Up reindeer stamp that I have had in my stash for years. I embossed it with gold EP and set it on an die cut of cork to resemble a hilly terriain. The word "peace" (Jillian Vance) seemed to fit so well with the scene.

Warm Winter Greetings

Game #82 is up at AAA Cards Challenge Blog with a theme of "Winter Chill". Our wonderful and generous sponsor is Stamplorations:

Challenge first place winner will receive Stamplorations Framed Cardinal Stamp and the Warm Winter Wishes CUTplorations die. All players will receive a 10% discount at the Stamplorations store. Get the details on the AAA Challenge Blog.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Katrina from Katrina's Craftworks. You will be delighted as you stroll through her blog and experience her wonderful work.

Here is my take:

This is really different than my usual. The white space is blue space. Eeeeek! It's hard to see that the die cut in the top right corner is cut from white glitter paper, as is the word "winter". The words "warm" and "greetings" are embossed in silver. As is so often the case, the picture doesn't do it justice. I'm still not sure about how I feel about this one, but I do feel good that I tried something different.

Please head on over to the AAA Challenge Blog and see what the DT has conjured up for your inspiration, Create a Winter Chill inspired card of your own, link up and play with us. Thanks for stopping by today!

Winter Hello

It's time to ring in a new year of challenges at the Time Out Challenge Blog. Time Out Challenge #74 is a Theme Challenge: Winter with the Optional Technique Twist of "White on White"Use only different shades of white. Black and other neutral colours can be used for the sentiment.

Uniko is generously sponsoring the challenge with a gift voucher for a random winner drawn from those participants who twist.

The awesome and talented Claire of Life On The Scrap Heap is Guest Designer. You should treat yourself to a wonderful stroll around her blog. You are sure to be very inspired!

Here is my take on the challenge:

The Winnie & Walter wreath from their In Boom: Paulina's Greenery Cutaways is inlaid on Tim Holtz's Distressed Wood grain Card stock. The inner parts of the leaves are colored with clear Wink Of Stella for a little sparkle. "Winter" is cut from copper colored glitter card stock, and "hello" is embossed in copper on a little banner die from Concord & 9th's In Bloom: Paulina's Greenery Cutaways.

Please head over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see what the wonderful Design Team has created for your inspiration. Then think Winter and White, and play with us!

Love Will Keep Us Warm

The theme for the current AAA Cards challenge is Winter Wonderland.  AAA Challenges now have prizes! Our sponsor for this challenge is Make It Crafty.
1st Place: $8 credit
2nd Place: $4 credit
3rd Place: $4 credit

Here is my take on the challenge:

This adorable image is from Make It Crafty. It is stamped on Neenah Solar White paper, colored with Copics and fussy cut. I stamped the "snow" with an image from Winnie & Walter's Scenery: Big Bang Confetti, embossed it in white, and then sponged over it with distress ink to create a snowy sky. I mounted the colored images on white glitter paper, added a sentiment from Paper Smooches Warm Hearts and tied some twine to complete the card.

Please head on over to the AAA Cards Challenge blog, see what my talented teammates have created, and leave them some love.  Then try your hand at our Winter Wonder challenge, link up and play with us!  Please remember, your card must be CAS.

I am also linking my card to the following challenges:

Warm Winter Wishes

Happy New Year! Time for the first AAA Cards Challenge of 2016!
Our theme for Game #55 is: Glitter!!!! Use glitter on your newly created project and link up at AAA Cards. The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate from our wonderful sponsor for this week's challenge: Stampendous!

Winter has finally arrived here in the northeastern part of the US. Winter+glitter=snowflakes in my mind for this project. I used glitter to highlight the word "winter" in my sentiment which is done with Winnie & Walter's The Big, the Bold and Seasons stamps. "Winter" is stamped in VersaMark and embossed with SU Heat & Stick powder with glitter sprinkled on top. I combined several blue, pink and purple Twinkling H2Os on a piece of watercolor paper and die cut these wonderful Paper Smooches snowflakes.  Very simple, but the glittery word really adds a touch which indeed makes the whole thing sparkle.

Head on over to the AAA Cards Challenge Blog and see what my wonderful DT partners have created. Pull out that glitter from your stash and see what sparkly, fun project you can come up with. Link up and play along with us. Maybe you will be the lucky winner of a $20 gift certificate from Stampendous!

Peace

The final LIM challenge for 2011 is

Mandi and Chrissie made this challenge a two weeker, thank goodness! I am just squeezing in at the eleventh hour, but I am so glad I got to play. The holidays were a blur, and back to work has been so busy. I wish I would win that lottery already!

My word is PEACE.  Tree Silhouette from Memory Box is such a peaceful image - I can almost hear the quiet of falling snow.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession's Peace on Earth.  I stamped the silhouette image in black, then stamped it again with VersaMark and embossed it with SU Iridescent Ice emboss powder to give it sparkle.  It's hard to see that in the picture, but I love the way it looks.

Wishing you many peaceful moments in 2012.  Thank you for visiting my blog, and for the lovely comments you share.
