Taissa Turner: (18, quietly intense) / (40s, polished, still intense)

“Why don’t people like you?” Sammy asks. Taissa absorbs that cold dose of reality. Then shrugs, making light of it. Taissa hides her guilt like a pro. Taissa kicks into political mode and turns towards the mom with charm and sympathy. Taissa hides how her world is spinning.

Taissa braces her hand against the wall, suddenly overcome with the gravity of what she just did. Then, she takes a deep breath. Collecting herself. Just like she always does.

For the first time, the group’s defacto leader has no fucking clue what to do. Off Taissa’s determination, fueled by grief and guilt— Find Taissa, frankly afraid and hating it. Taissa (tamping down panic): “Fine. More room for me then.” Taissa smiles self consciously, embarrassed by her emotions.

Taissa looks away, the pervasiveness of death and prayer making her uncomfortable. Taissa (burying her feelings): “I’m going for a walk.”

Taissa seems to be in a kind of fugue state. She jolts awake. Utterly freaked out, she tries to get her bearings… What. The. Fuck. Taissa looks up, unseeing in the glow of the lantern. Beyond frightened, she can’t grasp what the fuck is going on. How did she get here? On Taissa, stunned, she breaks into a wide, almost frightening grin.

“[Sammy] calls her ‘The Bad One.’” We’ve never seen Taissa this upset. But then, she takes a deep breath. Calming herself. Her force of will is almost spooky.

Taissa blinks, reeling a little. Is she losing it? The audience is here, hungry. Taissa puts on her “political” face, bottling up the frustration. Taissa breezes in like someone making a concerted effort to enter breezily. Taissa hangs up, dark electricity pulsing through her.

"She is Taissa Turner. She can handle this. Manage it."

Taissa (at her wit’s end): “We cannot keep fucking doing this, you guys.” She walks away, a little unsteady and deeply unsettled— “I didn’t, you know, mean to hurt her.” We’re not sure if we believe her. But we can tell that, at the very least, Taissa wants it to be true. Off Taissa, heart pounding, and not exactly sure why…

With hesitation, she removes her wedding ring, apparently intending to offer that piece of her life as a sacrifice.
