I was gonna clean this up before I posted it but I’m kinda moving into a house atm so not a lot of polished art is happening right now. so here’s a sketch of @darth-bagel’s chiss bounty hunter Liz. she’s great.
I accidentally started a discussion about Skyrim horses being predatory animals because their headtracking makes them look at everything head-on, and multiple people rightfully pointed out to me that Shadowmere is definitely an apex predator and we’ve known this since the beginning. So then I was like “what if I drew Shadowmere, but worse” and this happened.

An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don’t have any more info. They probably won’t have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:
I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.
Tumblr’s CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and ‘AI’ companies.
A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data… tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)
So I don’t have any extra info yet, but I’m keeping my ears open.
And I just got confirmation from a second ex-colleague that a deal with midjourney has been brewing since months ago. Not any extra details, just that’s a real thing.
Shit, I don’t see any way for this to happen that doesn’t make it an apocalyptic event the size of the porn ban. Fuck.
seasonal depression is hitting hard this year and I haven’t had much motivation for anything, but here’s a little sketch of my latest attempt to play a Jedi Knight in SWTOR. his name is Aurian, and he’s about to have The Worst Time.
Needless to say I’m not even trying to make this one work with the character creator since all my oc designs end up entirely divorced from it anyway.
it was done with an extremely basic rig for the sole purpose of messing with/testing particle hair dynamics (I still do not understand how particle hair works) but I’m weirdly proud of this little piaffe animation

Ironically I did not like The Last Jedi at all, but the fathiers caught my imagination because I will glom on to any fantasy horse-adjacent creature you put in front of me no matter how weirdly utilized or poorly thought out it is. I’ve been reworking their visual design a little to make them less uncanny valley cgi and make them into something that fills the same aesthetic/cultural niche as a fancy sport horse, but it also bothered me that they were all the same color and not at all designed like a domestic animal even though they pretty clearly are. I get why they didn’t spend time and budget on coloring them all uniquely for the approximately five minutes of screentime they had, but it was a waste of potential and also there’s no way an animal bred entirely by ostentatious rich people with too much money and time on their hands doesn’t have a robust community of color breeders and dubiously ethical halter lines and the general kind of fuckery you see with any animal that’s been kept by humans for a while.
I primarily based their genetics on horses, but I also borrowed some from goats and sheep, took the piebald patterns mainly from deer, and made some of it up entirely (though outside the alchemy stuff I tried to keep everything plausible and cohesive). There are also genes horses have that fathiers don’t, so it’s not a direct 1:1 in either direction. This also isn’t a comprehensive list of Every Possible Color Fathiers Come In, but rather all the color genes that can interact with each other in various ways. You can probably create some absolutely batshit-looking animals with this chart as well as very understated, mundane ones.
At some point I’ll expand further on the very specific headcanons about ancient Sith and the history of fathiers overall that tie into all this (most of it is rooted in Old Republic era EU stuff since I don’t really touch the disney-verse outside of stealing their creatures and I’m mainly in the SWTOR corner of the fandom), but that’s one for my lore/oc blog. You can probably extrapolate the important bits just from reading through the chart if it interests you.
drew my mom’s dog. he’s a terrier/chihuahua mix but in a greek mythology creature kind of way where instead of an even meshing of features he’s got chihuahua legs, ears, and tail on a terrier body.
