Backblast

- Backblast is a Decepticon-aligned Mini-Con from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
To call Backblast a single-minded engine of destruction would be giving him too much credit in the brains department. In fact, to say that he's as sharp as a bowl of wet glitch-mice would be to vastly underestimate the glitch-mice, the bowl, and the water.
A goon in the old-fashioned sense of the word, he is the muscle of the Deep Space Mini-Con Team, pointed in the right direction and told "go for it". Well, he wouldn't understand what that means, so he'd be told, very specifically, "Shoot and punch any other Mini-Cons who are not us."
From that point on, his partners Blastcharge and Scrap Iron go off to do the more precise work, coming back to tell Backblast it's time to stop fighting, because he won't stop until he's told. He'd probably start beating himself up once nobody else was left to smack around if Blastcharge and Scrap Iron ever took too long getting back to him with new orders.
Backblast's strength is impressive for a Mini-Con, and makes up a large portion of the punch of the Team's combined form, the Umbral Blaster.

Backblast was part of an army of insurgent Mini-Cons who forged an alliance with the Decepticons to eliminate the Mini-Con colony on one of Cybertron's moons. When a group of Autobots arrived to destroy the giant cannon the army had constructed, Backblast flew to attack them alongside Ramjet and Thrust. Revelations Part 4
After failing to hurt Sentinel Maximus with an energon axe, Backblast combined with his teammates to attack the Autobot in Umbral Blaster mode, but he dodged its destructive beam. When Unicron, the army's secret ally, betrayed them and started slaughtering everybody, Backblast fired on the dark god to no avail. Revelations Part 5 The Coming Storm: Part 1

- Backblast vs Sureshock (Mini-Con 2-pack, 2006)
- Released as part of the fourth (and final) wave of Cybertron Mini-Con 2-packs, Backblast is a redeco of the Space Mini-Con Team member Sky Blast, transforming into a five-thruster rocket based on the Vostok Rocket. In rocket mode, he can be carried by Blastcharge in his carrier-truck form. He also forms the main firing chamber of the Team's combined mode, the Umbral Blaster.
- He was only available in a 2-pack with the Street Action Mini-Con Team member Sureshock. This wave of figures did not ship for very long or terribly widely, making them difficult to find.
