Beastformers VS Laser Beasts

The Laser Beasts' attempt to conquer the planet Beast causes a great war to break out between them and the Beastformers.

Synopsis

The artificial sun that sustains the Laser Beasts in their underground empire will last only three more days, so their Emperor, Tigerburn, vows to conquer Beast's surface by getting rid of the Beastformers. Their main target is the kingdom of Historam so that they can eliminate White Leo, leader of all Beastformers, but the nation's defenses are strong so Scopecougar thinks of a strategy. By sneaking into the North Snarl mainland through tunnels underneath the dried up Lake Sagan, the Laser Beasts perform a surprise attack from within Sunatoria and successfully conquer the lands bordering Historam. Bombsheep, injured in the attack on Sheepnia, makes it to Historam and warns White Leo of the Laser Beasts' plan.

The Beastformers gather their troops to defend Historam, calling for reinforcements from Yutoranta and Rabbihos. Their preparations are spied upon by Rainbow Sam, who relays the information to Tigerburn. Seeing as Rabbihos's king, Rabbit Kid, has gone to Historam, Tigerburn has his troops attack and devastate his kingdom, killing Bluehorse in the process. Rabbit demands vengeance and proposes finding the Three Wise Ones' Hunters and using them against the Laser Beasts, but the other Beastformers refuse to rely on the dangerous weapons and he only finds support in Bombsheep, who shares his sentiment after losing Badshark. The two strike out on their own to search for the Hunters, and White Leo sees them off with a warning not to touch the Tiger Hunter no matter what. The Beastformers discuss that they would prefer not to fight, at least until Rabbit Kid and Bombsheep are back, so White Leo and Dream Eater approach the Laser Beasts peacefully to attempt negotiating. Unfortunately, Tigerburn is uninterested and has his soldiers open fire and injure White Leo, an action that infuriates the Beastformers who rise up and declare war on the Laser Beasts. The battles across the planet don't go in their favor, however, and they have soon lost half their territory to the invaders.

Just as the Beastformers begin reconsidering their stance on the Hunters, Rabbit Kid and Bombsheep reappear with the Sheep Hunter and Stag Hunter and scatter a unit of attacking Laser Beasts. Tigerburn is none too pleased and has his army's engineers work on a countermeasure to the Hunters, resulting in the creation of Battlecruisers, vehicles that successfully topple the Sheep Hunter in their first battle. The Stag Hunter is also rendered useless when Bombsheep is swarmed by the elite Laser Beast unit, Shield Battler-6, but fortunately Platinum Tiger arrives with the Tiger Hunter just in time. Now that the Beastformers are in control of all three Hunters and the Laser Beasts have their Battlecruisers, the war continues...

Notes

• The dried-up Lake Sagan previously appeared in "The Water Gem of Stillness", which established that its lakebed had tunnels connecting to the Laser Beasts' territory.
• Present at Bluehorse's funeral is Alligatron, who ought to be dead according to the Beastformers catalog fiction.
• The story of the war between Beastformers and Laser Beasts would be continued in the Legends comics, beginning with "LG51 Doublecross Prologue".
