North Snarl (北スナール Kita Sunāru) is one of the five major continents on planet Beast. Lake Snarl (スナール湖 Sunāru-ko) lays in its northeastern part, bordered by four of the continent's six Kingdoms.

It is also the resting place of one of the Three Wise Ones' elemental gems, the Water Gem of Stillness.

Geography

Bistoram (ビストラム Bisutoramu)

The seat of power of the royal Lion Clan. Notable locations include Lake City (レイクシティー Reiku Shitī) on the shores of Lake Snarl, birthplace of King White Leo and his sister White Lune, and the Bistoram Plateau (ビストラム高原 Bisutoramu Kōken). The North Snarl Sea (北スナール海 Kita Sunāru-kai) lays to the, um, north.

Sheepnia (シープニア Shīpnia)

A small nation wedged between the eastern shores of Lake Snarl and Shark Bay (シャーク湾 Shāku-wan) along the ocean coast. It includes Ram City (ラムシティー Ramu Shitī), birthplace of King Bombsheep.

Sunatoria (スナトリア Sunatoria)

Sunatoria takes up much of the southern part of the continent. The massive Lake Sagan lays in its southernmost part, and would play pivotal —and catastrophic— parts in the history of the planet, as the caverns beneath the lake were the hiding place of the Water Gem of Stillness. The Kingdom includes Crab City (クラブシティー Kurabu Shitī).

Bowdonia (ボードニア Bōdonia)

A small nation on the eastern coast. Locations include Dog City (ドグシティー Dogu Shitī) and the Violet Plateau (バイオレット高原 Baioretto Kōken).

Hogland (ホグランド Hogurando)

A land of dense forests. Its King Hedgehog was born in Hogs Town (ホグスタウン Hogusu Taun).

Rabbihos (ラビホス Rabihosu)

An island nation off the southeastern coast of mainland North Snarl. It includes the Rabbihos Plateau (ラビホス高原 Rabihosu Kōken).

Fiction

Beastformers comic

Suspecting that the desertification of Sunatoria was because the Water Gem of Stillness lay hidden there, a party of five heroic Beastformers traveled to the now dried up Lake Sagan in search of it. The Water Gem of Stillness

Some time later, the Laser Beasts invaded and conquered Sunatoria by sneaking into the country through tunnels beneath the still-dried Lake Sagan. Forces from Rabbihos, including King Rabbit Kid himself, traveled to Bistoram to reinforce its defenses. Unfortunately, this left Rabbihos itself vulnerable to attack from the Laser Beasts, who conquered the island and killed Emperor Bluehorse. In short order, all of the nations but Bistoram fell to the Laser Beast army. Rabbit Kid responded by urging aggressive action against the invaders, and he sought out the legendary Head Hunter weapons to use against them. Beastformers VS Laser Beasts

Notes

  • The spelling of Bistoram has varied in official material: it appears as "Bistoram" (ビストラム) in various 1987 bio cards, but as "Historam" (ヒストラム) on the 1988 maps and related materials. As the former came first and is the one most recently used in the Legends comic, this wiki operates under the assumption that "Historam" is a persistent typo. Plus, you know, sounds like "Beast".
  • Sunatoria is named after the Japanese word for sand, suna (砂).
  • The actual locations of the named cities and non-water-based features are never given, so there are at best context clues for a few of them. Like, it's safe to assume Crab City is on the shoreline somewhere.
