Synopsis

Someone call the cops I think we got robbed.

Blades, Cody, and Chase watch a Maven Danger movie in which the title character steals an item back from his arch nemesis Dr. Nuh-uh, though Chase is uncomfortable with the idea of theft even for a noble reason. Salvage contacts them with an alert — he's picked up an energy spike off the island. The team reaches the drilling platform at the provided coordinates, but doesn't find anyone aboard and assume it's all automated. They find the platform has uncovered raw Energon, which poses a dangerously explosive risk. The team heads off, intending to come back and retrieve the energon once the storm's over, however Madeline Pynch decloaks having overheard the entire conversation. She's now aware of both the Energon's potential and the fact that the Rescue Bots aren't what they seem.

The next day, the team returns to retrieve the energon. Graham reports he's been unable to find out who owns the drilling rig. Boulder heads to the bottom of the ocean, only to find that the energon is gone, and Salvage is unable to detect any trace of it. As they prepare to head back to the firehouse, Cody reminds them that the carnival is that night.

This rescue is wheelie dangerous.

The carnival is later in full swing, with Heatwave helping small children cheat at the games. Dani and Cody take a ride on the high tech Ferris wheel. They try to invite Kade to take a ride on it, but he refuses. The carnival is suddenly interrupted by a town-wide power failure, which causes the Ferris wheel to come loose and start rolling towards town. The rest of the team swings into action, managing to stop the ride before it can take a disastrous plunge over a cliff. Graham checks the power plant, but can't find anything wrong, and Chief takes a call from Doc Greene suggesting he watch the news. It turns to be a report from Huxley Prescott on Madeline Pynch's new product, "Pynchonium"-powered Pynch-Cells. The Bots recognize the Pynchonium as Energon and they all realize she must have overheard their conversation. Quickshadow arrives through the GroundBridge to ask for their help, explaining that she's familiar with Pynch and believes the tycoon's plan is to control the world's energy supply. Boulder reveals the results of his analysis of the Pynch-Cells — they'll explode after a few days use. Realizing they have to get the stolen tech and energon back, they start working on a way to infiltrate Pynch's secure mainland compound. Blades demands codenames.

Duby duby doo ba boo, Agent P reporting for duty!

Graham and Boulder are soon setting up a cell interceptor outside the compound, while Kade and Chase set up road spikes to cripple Pynch's car. Madeline's phone call to her daughter is interrupted by the car being brought to a halt, and she calls for another car, unaware that her call's been intercepted. As Heatwave, Blades and Chief head over the compound in holographic disguise as a cloud, Pynch is picked up by Quickshadow and driven to the compound. Once she's inside, Quickshadow releases Servo from her trunkboot — Servo sneaks into the building and inserts a USB device into the computer, giving the team access to the security system. With the sensor network down, Blades drops off Heatwave and Chief so the pair can infiltrate the building. They rappel down an elevator shaft and find a secret room containing the tech they're after. While they're collecting it, Cody locates the Energon in the side building and alerts Chief.

"We're power walking as fast as we can!"

Priscilla sits down to watch a movie, but finds she's unable to, and pulls out the USB device planted by Servo. The Rescue Team lose control of the security system, which sounds an alarm. Cue the start of plan B: Dani brings her high tech aircraft in for a faked emergency landing. Though she is unsuccessful in stalling Pynch, she's smuggled Chase and Kade into the compound in the cargo section of the jet and the pair head for the Energon. Pynch catches Chief and Heatwave trying to make off with the tech and immobilizes them. Revealing she knows about the Rescue Bots, she explains her plan to control the world's power supply. She uses the Verne device's memory erasing power on them, however once she unfreezes them, they reveal that they had switched out the Verne device for a fake. Also Chief now has a recording of her confessing to sabotaging the power grid. She attempts to make a run for it, finding Dani, Chase and Kade in the process of making off with the Energon in the jet. Heatwave and Chief confront Pynch and she jumps into her waiting car to make her escape. Unfortunately the car in question is Quickshadow, who takes her off to Griffin Rock to be locked up.

Cody and Chief later add the stolen tech to the Best Left Forgotten Room, and observe that the freezer seems to have failed, as evidenced by the puddle of water leaking from it. Inside, there's a half-melted chunk of ice, and a Morocco logo etched into the wall.

Quotes

"Transformers? That's terrible!"
"Don't worry, Blades. That's also a name for Earth electrical equipment."
"Then why not just say that? I was worried sick!"

Blades and Graham

"I was being fesheekish-fusheshish-I was...I was kidding."

Kade and his vocabulary.

"If we're going to steal back our things, we need to sneak in. Yes, Chase?"
"I am not comfortable with the term steal. Could we instead say recover, or perhaps liberate?"

Notes

Continuity notes

Transformers references

  • (tbd)

Real-world references

  • The title is likely a reference to 2001 film Ocean's Eleven, which was a remake of a 1960's film.
  • Maven Danger villain Dr. Nuh-uh is named in a parody of Dr. No from the James Bond film of the same name, though visually he's based on Bond villain Blofeld.

Continuity errors

  • Only the Velgrox tech is stolen. The Phase Bits were legitimately purchased from Doc Greene, and a case could be made to say that trading the Verne Device for the Nemo is legitimate, as well. In any event, the Phase Bits were not stolen.

Trivia

  • With this ninety-ninth episode, Rescue Bots officially overtakes the Generation 1 cartoon to become the longest-running Transformers animated series. Coincidentally, this feat fell on the same day the original cartoon premiered.

Foreign localization
