Death Tower

Death Towers are installations from the Headmasters cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Death Towers (デスタワー Desu Tawā) are Decepticon installations on Earth made from the vaunted crysmagnetal. They draw energy from the Earth's core, converting it into electromagnetic radiation.

As part of a plot to destroy Earth and harness the resulting plasma energy, Scorponok had five Death Towers emerge from the ground on Earth. Two emerged in Canberra, Australia, and Santiago, Chile; the Autobots went to investigate at both sites, resulting in short battles with the Decepticon combiners that were guarding them. Both eventually left, and the third Death Tower emerged in Washington, D.C. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 1)

The fourth soon appeared in Cairo, Egypt, which was outfitted with energy induction boosters, as was the other three. The fifth and final Death Tower arose in the South Pole and the energy emanating from the Towers covered the Earth in an energy net that disrupted the climate of the planet, causing natural disasters. The Autobots went to confront the Decepticons at the North Pole, where a dais of crysmagnetal was built. A satellite launched previously had gathered the energy from the Death Towers and connected with the dais, completing the system and threatening to destroy the Earth. Fortress Maximus was able to destroy the satellite, ending the threat. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)
