An old tradition of Super Robots.

Optimus Prime's Flying Fist is achieved by launching his Battle Mode right fist and forearm from either his arm or from his trailer's battle station mode. Dialog suggests that this rocket-powered pulverizing punch may also have a handy homing ability. It has a firing range of 200 meters.[1]

Alternatively, Optimus can use a variation of this attack, called his Fist of Steel, by simply punching with his Battle Mode fist and forearm worn on his standard robot mode's right arm like a gauntlet.

You'll find it packs quite a punch.Optimus Prime, "Battle Protocol!"
