Hook is a Decepticon Constructicon from the Generation 1 continuity family.

"Proud and insolent youth, prepare to meet thy doom!"

The snob of the Constructicons, Hook considers himself an artist. He looks upon the rest of the Decepticons almost as peasants, beneath him to a degree. Though full of himself, Hook is a master craftsman, having truly earned his insufferable ego. His high standards that he holds himself and others to means he takes extra care to ensure even the most simple of jobs is completed to the nth degree of perfection. Although Megatron acknowledges Hook's incredible skill, he gets impatient with the time it takes Hook to finish his work. Hook cannot understand the frustration at the delays this causes, he just sees it as doing the job right.

Hook condescends to join his fellow Constructicons in forming Devastator. It is only fitting that he should form the head and shoulders. He has at least once stooped so low as to take Scrapper's place as Devastator's right leg.

Hook, who was evil, helped build Megatron. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4 Later, Megatron used the Robo-Smasher to make Hook, who was good, evil. The Secret of Omega Supreme Finally, Megatron built Hook, who, with his fellow Constructicons, would attempt to deal with Teletraan I, only to be thwarted by the Dinobots. Bonecrusher would then reveal the Constructicons' ability to combine by forming Devastator, who was blasted by Optimus Prime into lava. Heavy Metal War

"Did you drop this? There are laws against littering."

Hook and the other Constructicons would later appear in New York City, bringing down, then re-erecting the Empire State Building as a Cybertronian fortress. In the time between, he dismantled Optimus Prime, so it was a busy day for him. City of Steel He later helped build the Transfixatron. Before a second Constructicon device could be used to destroy the powerless Autobots that the Transfixatron had stuck in vehicle mode, they were rescued, and Hook and the other Constructicons were defeated by their own Transfixatron. "Heh, heh, heh! I'm going for the funny bone, Dad!"
"Uh oh. He's waking up. Better get him back to the subway station."

The Constructicons then built a giant drill to tap into Earth's core, although Hook had to reprimand Scavenger for almost messing it up. During the mission, however, the Constructicons got dominator disks snuck onto them by a group of Autobots, with Wheeljack blasting one onto Hook with his shoulder cannon. When the Constructicons next formed Devastator, the Autobots activated the disks, taking control of the combiner and forcing him to defeat the other Decepticons. They then took Devastator back to Autobot headquarters, where Hook separated from him to help repair Jazz while simultaneously bragging about his skill. Eventually, Megatron nullified the dominator disks' effects, bringing the Constructicons back into Decepticon control just in time to stop their own out-of-control drill from destroying the planet. Hook, led by Scrapper, convinced Hoist and Grapple that they wanted to aid the two Autobots in a construction project to build a Solar Power Tower. Megatron was not at all happy to hear about this, but the Constructicons explained that it was just a ruse, and that they would turn the tower over to him when it was complete. They did, but the structure was subsequently ruined in a battle between Devastator and an attacking force of Autobots. The Master Builders A few Constructicons, including Hook, came with Megatron as he searched for their crashed spaceship in the jungles of South America. When they found it, Hook let Megatron borrow his cyber-forceps so that he could cut loose the ship's power source, the Heart of Cybertron. Next, Hook was ordered to install the Heart inside Megatron himself, which he did flawlessly. Microbots

Hook and the other Constructicons later participated in an all-out battle against the Autobot forces, but in the aftermath everyone but Bonecrusher lay damaged on the ground. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2 They were back in tip-top shape soon enough, which was good since all the other Decepticons were suffering from cybertonium depletion. Hook and the others took care of a shipment of cybertonium sent from Cybertron, but failed to stop the Dinobots from using the space bridge. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1

Hook and the Constructicons later went into space to mine an asteroid. Omega Supreme, who had a vendetta against them, followed them and very nearly defeated Devastator. The Secret of Omega Supreme After Blitzwing and Astrotrain incapacitated Megatron and Starscream, the former promised to share leadership with the Constructicons if they helped build him a "zone defense"—a gigantic labyrinth outside the football arena the Triple Changer had taken to be headquarters. Everyone but Scrapper ended up getting lost in their own maze, but eventually found their way back to Blitzwing and demanded their share of the bargain. When Blitzwing refused, they merged into Devastator and attacked him, but soon enough Megatron returned and defeated both of them. Triple Takeover When Starscream went against Megatron with his Combaticons, the Constructicons were called in against them, but Devastator was defeated quite utterly by Bruticus. Present at the Battle of Autobot City, Hook helped to breach the Autobot defenses as part of Devastator, who withstood an Autobot attack. Despite a second attack by the Dinobots, Devastator managed to hold his own against them before eventually disassembling. Following Megatron's final battle with Optimus Prime, Hook rushed to his leader's side, but stood by silently as Starscream kicked the mortally injured Megatron and then followed the Air Commander's call for a retreat. Later, when Starscream volunteered himself as leader of the Decepticons after flushing Megatron into the vacuum of space, Hook and the other Constructicons contested his claim, arguing their ability to merge into Devastator made them the proper leaders. Soundwave then claimed superiority over the combiner group, Hook responded that the communications officer was an uncharismatic bore and that nobody would follow him. Rumble did not take kindly to his comments. Hook and the other Constructicons made it back to Cybertron to be present at Starscream's becoming the new Decepticon leader. After a fanfare and the death of Starscream at the hands (or cannon) of Galvatron, Hook and his fellow surviving Decepticons joined in the hunt for the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. However, Galvatron was vanquished and the Decepticons were driven off Cybertron. Hook and Constructicons were forced to take refuge on Chaar alongside most other Decepticons. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1 Eventually, the Quintessons offered them energy in change for attacking a group of Autobots on Goo 8739-B, and the starved Decepticons happily agreed. The Constructicons proceeded to build a giant engine capable of moving an asteroid, but the asteroid was destroyed and instead they fell onto the planet of Eurythma. Scramble City

When the Decepticons learned of the Scramble City project being secretly assembled by the Autobots, Megatron sent his henchmen to interfere with their work. The Constructicons joined Starscream and his flying partners in an attack on the Autobots. Optimus Prime and a task force of Autobots held their position until Hook and the Constructicons inevitably joined forces into Devastator. Hook and the Constructicons were stationed on Earth in 2011, under the command of Sixshot. They attempted to prevent Ultra Magnus from sending reinforcements to Cybertron to help the Autobots fend off Galvatron's siege on Vector Sigma. Hook and his squad were ganging up on the Trainbots until Metroplex arrived and shooed them off with his superior firepower. Having failed to stop the Autobot reinforcements from departing, the Constructicons followed them to Cybertron. As Devastator, they tried to shoot Superion in the back, but Optimus Prime foiled their aim, making them hit Abominus instead. The Autobots arrived to stop the Decepticons. Despite their vast power, Trypticon and the combined Devastator failed to defeat the Autobots due to their lack of teamwork, and the Constructicons were knocked back into their component parts. In the year 2010, Hook participated in a Decepticon attack on the planet Feminia. He and his team merged into Devastator in order to battle alongside Bruticus and Menasor against their Autobot counterparts Superion, Defensor and Omega Supreme. The fight was fairly evenly matched until Galvatron called up his ace-in-the-hole, Predaking, whose power was unmatched by any of the Autobots... except for the Omnibots, who essentially tied Predaking's shoelaces together until he fell over, straight into Devastator and his chums, sending them all toppling to the ground and knocking them to bits. Wings Universe

Nine million years ago, Hook was a member of the construction team that built Crystal City. It was during this project that he and his fellow Constructicons were introduced to Omega Supreme. Hauler's Wings of Honor profile Hailed for his technical genius and skill, Hook soon came to take command of all Constructicons and formed his own faction. He aligned himself with the Decepticons in order to maintain access to Kaon's smelting pools, which granted him access to the raw building material he needed to continue his work. Unhappy with this arrangement, seven renegade Constructicons went underground, building Megatron in an attempt to take power for themselves. Unfortunately for them, Megatron turned on them and formed his own group of Decepticons, eventually brainwashing Hook and the others into his service with the Robo-Smasher. Hook was the Decepticon Warlord who led the Constructicon faction during the early days of the Great War. When the factions came under threat from the Cybertron Elite Guard, they formed a War Council with the intention of combining their talents to destroy the Elite Guard. Hook's spies had discovered some intriguing technology in the ruins of Gygax, however information gathered by Shockwave at the meeting enabled Megatron to persuade Hook to merge their factions. Early in the Transformers' war on Earth, Shockwave used the stolen power of the Creation Matrix to give life to the first of a new generation of Decepticon warriors, the Constructicons. Hook and the other Constructicons were immediately given a mission upon their coming online—construct a communications tower to transmit a message to Cybertron. A truckstop was raided for raw materials, which attracted the ire of trucker Bomber Bill, who, with the aid of the Autobots, managed to destroy the tower Hook and the other Constructicons had built. The Next Best Thing to Being There!

Hook and the Constructicons, after troubleshooting their union as Devastator, were sent by Shockwave to abduct Buster Witwicky. After tracking the boy down to a demolition derby, and merging into Devastator to fend off the Autobots they found there, the Constructicons' attack was suddenly called off. While Devastator battled, Soundwave had discovered that Buster held the rest of the Creation Matrix in his head, and considered this too great a revelation to proceed as initially planned. After Megatron's retaking of Decepticon command, Hook and the other Constructicons were charged with building perimeter defences around their headquarters located at the base of a coal strip mine in eastern Wyoming. Devastator's services were again required when the Autobots staged a surprise attack, but they retreated once they had what they needed; data on the Constructicons' combining process. Collaborate and listen.

Hook and his fellow Decepticons followed a tracer signal to find the Dinobots, who were sheltering Joy Meadows, her camera crew, and their footage debunking the Decepticons' Robot-Master propaganda. During the ensuing fight, Hook battled Swoop alongside Scavenger and Mixmaster, at least until the arrival of Centurion evened the odds. Eventually, Soundwave ended the fight, destroying Meadows' footage, and the Decepticons left the area. In the National Interest

The Constructicons were sent into frigid Yukon territory to work on a secret project. They were discovered by Jazz and Hoist, only for the two Autobots to accidentally betray their presence with an accidental weapons discharge. The Constructicons chased down the interlopers, blasting at them through a nearby forest. During the chase, they merged into Devastator in an attempt to overtake the pair. While in this form, they were duped into blasting a hydro-electric dam. Realizing what was coming, the Constructicons only had time enough to separate before the concrete structure collapsed, unleashing a torrent of water. The Constructicons were submerged in the flood, allowing the Autobots to escape. The Mission

When Galvatron came back in time to 1986, he summarily dispatched Megatron and forced the Constructicons to help him in constructing a massive energy cannon which would be useful to him in the future. Despite working on his project, Hook and the others showed no other loyalty to Galvatron, and remained out of the fighting until the future Decepticons returned to their own time after the cannon had been destroyed by Ultra Magnus and the future Autobots Hot Rod, Kup and Blurr. Hook and the other Constructicons were called upon to defend the Decepticons' base in the Florida Keys from a joint attack by G.I. Joe, Cobra, and the Autobots. Forming Devastator once again, they brawled with Superion until a blast from Superion's rifle caused a malfunction in Devastator's coupling links and he broke up into his components. ...All Fall Down!

During Ratbat's command, Hook and the other Constructicons (except Mixmaster) raided a building site in downtown Atlanta, Georgia for raw materials such as girders. Toy Soldiers! Hook was next seen aboard the Decepticons' island base in the Caribbean when it was attacked by the Autobot Targetmasters looking to rescue Buster Witwicky. The Desert Island of Space!

Ratbat ordered an attack on the combined Autobot forces on Earth's moon while Blaster and Grimlock dueled for leadership. Under the cover of battle, Hook and the other Constructicons retrieved the remains of several fallen and captured Decepticons. Totaled!

Earthforce

At some point, Hook and the other Constructicons lost the ability to combine into Devastator. Desert Island Risks!

When the Decepticon faction on Earth split into two, Hook chose to work for Megatron rather than Shockwave. However that quickly became academic when Soundwave announced the unification of the two forces under his and Starscream's joint command while their respective leaders were away, battling each other at Memphis Airport. Internal Affairs!

Under Soundwave's command, Hook joined a massive Decepticon offensive against the Autobot Earthbase. Their goal was to kill some Autobots, while also distracting them as Starscream looted a human oil tanker in the Gulf of Mexico. Both goals proved fruitless, and the Decepticons were driven off. Divide and Conquer!

Marvel UK future timelines

In one future Hook and the other Constructicons were present at the Battle of Autobot City, where they helped to breach the Autobot defenses as Devastator, though the Decepticons were ultimately driven off and forced to dump their wounded in deep space. The Planet-Eater!

When the Decepticons were forced into a suicidal assault on Autobase by Scourge and Cyclonus in 2008, Hook was among the many Decepticons seen in combat with the Autobots. The Legacy of Unicron!

Both Hook and Mixmaster were curiously absent from the Constructicons, with the enigmatic Hightower in their place. It's unclear why this was, but Hightower himself joked about stripping enough spare parts off of Grimlock to "build a new Hook". Crossing Over: Part 6

Marvel Storybooks continuity

Under the guise of the Global Corporation, Hook and his fellow Constructicons created sophisticated buildings all around the world. Within each building, however, was hidden a mechanism that would trap underground all within the structure. When the scheme was put into motion and the Autobots responded with an attack, Hook and his fellow Constructicons merged to become The Devastator. Though in this form, the Constructicons were able to overpower the Autobots, that changed when the Dinobots arrived. Hook and Scrapper were the first ones to die by Swoop's hand, when the Dinobot bombardier released missiles in Devastator's face at point-blank range. Battle for Earth

As Devastator, Hook and the other Constructicons stumbled upon Sunstreaker admiring his reflection in the wilderness, and managed to capture the vain Autobot. The group revealed their individual components to their prisoner once he was safely locked up within Decepticon headquarters. They rejoined forces to combat an Autobot rescue party that attempted to storm Decepticon base, and captured Slag, Sludge, and Sideswipe as well, putting them in Sunstreaker's cell. Pleased with the development, Megatron informed Hook that he would be charged in rebuilding the captured Autobots as Decepticons. Bonecrusher interjected, hoping to be the one to be allowed to destroy the Autobots prior to their reconstruction. Hook objected, claiming that he should be the one to destroy them. The two Constructicons began to squabble, prompting Megatron to break up the fight by promising them each an Autobot to destroy. The opportunity never came, however, as the Constructicons were once more prompted to combine into Devastator to contemplate an Autobot peace offering; a life-sized statue of the gestalt! The peace offering turned out to be an Autobot ruse, and reinforcement burst forth from within the statue. The Autobots forced Devastator to break up into his component pieces by thoroughly dividing his attention, and so Hook joined the fight against the Autobots as an individual. Shockwave led the Constructicons in an attack on a human village, intent on razing the town and building a fuel plant in its place. The Constructicons, blindly loyal to Shockwave, obeyed all his orders as he dispensed them. Little did they know, the Decepticons were being spied upon from orbit by the Autobot Cosmos. Cosmos relayed what was happening to his teammates, who rolled into action to put an end to the Decepticons' plot. Hook and his allies were beaten up, shoved down into a pit, and had quick-drying cement poured over them to hold them in place. The Autobot Spy in the Sky

When the Decepticons learned that the Autobots had long ago lost a large shipment of Energon cubes at the Ark's original crash site, Galvatron ordered them to head to Mt. St. Hillary to uncover it. There, Hook fought the Autobots over possession of it. The brawl ended when Starscream scarfed down all of the Energon, and proceeded to pick a fight with Galvatron. The Lost Treasure of Cybertron

Hook was brought the remain of the Autobot Beachcomber, who had attempted to infiltrate the Decepticons’ newest secret fortress. Megatron then ordered Hook and Mixmaster to rebuild the Autobot, but replace his memory chip with a Destructicon chip, creating the perfect Decepticon double-agent. The pair botched the job, and Beachcomber was sent off with his mind untampered.Earthquake

Desert Flight

Hook was part of a Decepticon deployment stationed in a desert base. The Decepticons plotted to lure the Autobots in a trap through the use of an anti-gravity beam. Using the beam on a nearby human settlement, the Autobots would be duped into coming to the fleshliness’ rescue, only to be themselves trapped by the effects of the beam. Hook was in charge of manning the gravity gun.

In the event that the Autobots used a trojan ruse to infiltrate the Decepticon base, and the Decepticons’ forcefield was disabled, a wayward shot from Megatron revealed to the Autobots both the gravity gun and Hook's location. Turning the gun about, Hook caught Optimus Prime in the gravity-nullifying ray as the Autobot leader led a charge towards him.

If Buddy, the Autobots’ current human companion who had snuck up to the gravity gun's control panel, pulled the gravity gun's horizontal control just as Hook turned the weapon to full power, the weapon would swivel and catch Megatron in its beam, tearing the Decepticon leader to pieces.

If Buddy instead cowered away, Cosmos came to Optimus worked together to commandeer the gravity gun from Hook, knocking him aside.

In a completely different possible sequence of events, Hook was assigned to create a perfect duplicate of Cosmos, who had been taken prisoner by the Decepticons. Hook would then conceal a proton bomb within the duplicate, that would explode when the false-Cosmos reported to Optimus.

In many other outcomes, Hook got clobbered while he was guarding the anti-gravity gun. Desert Flight

Autobot Alert!

In one possible scenario, the Constructicons were responsible for building the Decepticons’ command centre in the evil robots’ latest plot of taking over the Earth. They also were responsible for stocking Astrotrain with explosives and weapons before the Decepticon shuttle launched into space to further sabotage Earth's satellites.

In a different possible scenario, the Constructicons joined Galvatron on his campaign to retrieve an ancient cybertite sphere containing the secret of an ancient Autobot power-booster. Discovering that the sphere was within a sunken ship off the California coast, the Constructicons merged into Devastator in order to retrieve it. Autobot Alert!

Dreamwave Generation One continuity

Nine million years ago, Hook and the Constructicons were helping Megatron in his plot to turn Cybertron into a mobile juggernaut, raging throughout the universe. He defended the engine controls alongside Thrust and Rumble against Grimlock's commandos, but eventually gave up and scattered before the big boom. The War Within #6 Sometime later, he and the Constructicons were the first to break the Crisis Intervention Accord during the Dark Ages, joining up with Ratbat and the Ultracons in their Devastator form, and doing battle with Defensor and the Wreckers in the Tagan Heights. Escalation The Constructicons were eventually defeated when the Protectobots overloaded him with electricity, shutting him down and forcing him to split into his individual components.... though not before the conflict devastated a large portion of Cybertron's biggest manufacturing area. At some point after the initial launch of the Nemesis, Hook and the Constructicons wound up on Earth during the 1980s and began working with Megatron and his faction of Decepticons on that planet. Unfortunately, they were eventually captured and detained during Operation Liberation in 1998, when the united human and Autobot forces brought them down. Earth's triumph turned to tragedy in 1999, however, as the initial flight of the Ark II back to Cybertron exploded in mid-air, apparently destroying all the Transformers on board. When the Decepticons awoke in 2002, Hook was part of the initial assault on San Francisco along with the rest of the Constructicons as Devastator. Prime Directive #4 Despite their victory over the counterpart combiner, Superion, the Constructicons were eventually brought low by Optimus Prime himself. Prime Directive #5

Soon revived by Starscream's good graces, Hook and the Constructicons loyally served under the former Decepticon lieutenant commander after Megatron disappeared off the face of the Earth. The "spin the bottle" leadership of the Constructicons apparently fell to Hook in these days, and he and his team began operating out of Las Vegas, where Starscream had set up a base of operations called "New Centurion", after his home city-state on Cybertron. In defending New Centurion, Hook coordinated his dutiful minions Scrapper and Mixmaster against the invading forces of Grimlock and his Autobot comrades. The lofty Constructicon attempted to direct the battle from the air, but Prowl managed to knock Hook out of the sky, physically grappling with him and pulling the surgeon down to the ground below. Then Grimlock stepped on his head. It hurt. A lot. Hardwired

Megatron eventually returned to Earth, but Hook and the Constructicons owed Starscream for reconstructing them, and so remained loyal to him when the Decepticons split into two factions. Of course, this only meant they were among the first to be captured by the Keepers when those aliens took over Las Vegas and turned Starscream into their puppet. Trapped behind an impenetrable force dome, Hook and the Constructicons attempted to batter their way out as Devastator using sheer brute force, until Skywarp offered a better idea. Reconverting into their separate modes, the Constructicons dug a tunnel out beneath the force field, enabling Starscream's faction to join the final battle against the Keepers. Acting as Devastator, they were too far away from Optimus Prime and his Matrix-induced force shield when the American nuclear assault was dropped on the Keepers, and were blasted into pieces. Annihilation

The nuclear blast left Devastator fused into his singular robot mode, leaving him unable to split back into Hook and his other components. Eventually, Devastator fell into the Void along with Omega Sentinel in the final conflict with the Keepers, and was left in stasis lock, drifting in the vacuum of space, after the Sentinel destroyed the Keepers' power source and shattered the Void back into real space-time. The starship Bounty, on a secret space mission from Earth, came across Devastator's remains and planned to tow him back to Earth. Fusion

The pieces of Hook and the Constructicons fell under the control of Earth Defense Command, and were held in their Roswell facility for study. Generation 1 #0

G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers

The ruthless terrorist organization known as Cobra dug dozens of Autobots and Decepticons out of their four-million-year resting place and began rebuilding them into a Cobra-controlled army. However, with Wheeljack and Bumblebee's help, the mind-controlled Transformers were awakened, and a very angry Hook crushed the Cobra machine he was carrying before moving onto the humans that had been controlling him. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #3 After capturing Doctor Mindbender, Hook sorta felt like playing wishbone with the human, but opted for dropping him into Mixmaster's mixing drum instead. Unfortunately, he was robbed of this pleasure when Soundwave arrived and took the doctor to help him work the SPS Satellite. The Constructicons were subsequently ordered to defend the satellite's controls from the attacking Autobots and G.I. Joes. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #4 Hook and the others combined into Devastator to fight off the enemies, but the giant was overwhelmed and defeated relatively quickly. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers #5

The Beast Within

During an all-out Decepticon offensive against the Autobots, Hook and his fellow Constructicons Long Haul, Mixmaster and Bonecrusher ganged up on Sideswipe. He and his fellow Constructicons were blown away by an explosion. Then, Hook watched on in horror as The Beast, the Dinobots’ gestalt form, dispatched Predaking in one sword strike. After the Senate cut back significantly on the need for sentient workers in the realm of manual labor, Hook and the Constructicons found themselves out of work. They found new employment, however, in the underground gladiator tournaments of Kaon. Instead of personally participating in the death sports, the Constructicons maintained the arena itself, creating a new stadium at random locations just hours before each match began, using nothing more than the raw materials at hand. Megatron Origin #2 As Megatron's plans moved from gladiatorial combat to insurrection, Hook and the Constructicons turned their talents from arena building to weapon modifications. When the Seekers joined Megatron, Hook modified them to possess onboard weaponry. Megatron Origin #3

As the war began to sweep across Cybertron, Hook and the Constructicons remained loyal followers of Megatron. When the Decepticons joined forces with Orion Pax's Autobots to overthrow Zeta Prime, Hook participated in their combined assault on the Citadel. Overthrown Betrayed by Megatron, Orion Pax became Optimus Prime and rallied an army against the Decepticons with a charismatic planet-wide broadcast that the Constructicons witnessed. Broadcast Four million years ago, Hook was working with Soundwave and his Mini-Cassettes to run interference for an energon convoy bringing fresh supplies to Megatron's army. The Iron Age At one point the Constructicons were stationed on Varas Centralus alongside Swindle and Sky-Byte, where they committed some atrocity that was enough to cause Sky-Byte to abandon the Decepticon cause. A Better Tomorrow

Millions of years later, Hook and his pals were eventually called to Earth, where they used their newly acquired combination ability to beat down the local Autobots. All Hail Megatron #7 As the Decepticons moved on to New York City, Hook was shocked to hear Scrapper declare that they were benevolent aliens who had come to preach to the humans about kindness and cooperation. He quickly got the joke, though, and shared a good laugh with Scrapper as they started killing fleshlings left and right. All Hail Megatron #1 After mysteriously failing to recognise Frenzy, whom he'd met yonks ago, Hook joined the other Constructicons in forming Devastator and attacking the city's tunnels. All Hail Megatron #2 The primary task of the Constructicons, however, was to build an unknown structure in New York (cannibalising the local buildings to do so). Hook made the supreme sacrifice here of actually being in that filthy cramped hovel. All Hail Megatron #3

Hook was one of many Decepticons to listen Megatron's speech about conquest. All Hail Megatron #4

When Starscream decided to take leadership of the Decepticons, Hook and the other Constructicons sided with him. They combined into Devastator and attacked Megatron, but failed to kill him due to an attack by human jets. All Hail Megatron #10 The jets were soon followed by a unit of Autobots, and Devastator met his match in Omega Supreme. All Hail Megatron #11 The battle ended with Devastator getting shot straight through the torso. All Hail Megatron #12

Hook survived the damage done to Devastator's chest, but was captured and deactivated by Skywatch. Two years after the battle in New York, Hook, Mixmaster and several other prisoners were retrieved from Skywatch by a group of Transformers attempting to get off the planet. The group's leader, the Autobot Hot Rod, assigned Jetfire to bring Hook's consciousness back. A Rude Awakening The Autobot was successful, and Hook joined Mixmaster and Scrapper in constructing a starship that was ostensibly for both the Autobots and Decepticons. Seasons in Flight

Of course, things didn't actually work out that way. Unable to convince Rodimus to let him reassemble the Constructicons, Swindle instead applied combiner technology to the Stunticons, creating Menasor. Hook and the other Decepticons turned on the Autobots, and Hook was seen in battle against Optimus Prime. (Losing.) After Menasor was brought down, Swindle escaped from the Autobots and Skywatch along with some Constructicons, possibly including Hook. Earthworks When Megatron returned to Earth four months later, Hook rejoined the main Decepticon army. He and the others observed as a lone Optimus Prime confronted Megatron, and was caught in the explosion when Prime had a satellite fall on top of Decepticons. Enemy Mine

Megatron would later use space bridge technology built into in his new body to summon Hook and the rest of the Decepticons to him on Cybertron. To battle the Autobots, Hook and the other Constructicons combined into Devastator, but lost because the giant's right leg was paralyzed due to combining with a dead Scrapper. They were soon mind-controlled by D-Void, via Galvatron, into combining with Galvatron's Sweep army and forming a huge monster. Chaos Part Three: Kings Once this "Deceptigod" was defeated, the Decepticons were left weakened, and so the Autobots captured them and planted I/D chips in their heads. Hook and the others were briefly released to violently deal with a NAIL riot. The Death of Optimus Prime

Hook was sitting around in the Decepticon prison when Needlenose and Horri-Bull were brought in for beating a NAIL. The Autonomy Lesson Hook was later outraged that the Autobots had the gall to call Ratbat's death a "suicide", then recruited along the other Constructicons to dig out some victims from a blast crater. Stick Together The team continued to build things for the Autobots until one day when they found Bombshell being chased down by them. Coming to Bombshell's defense, the Constructicons beat up Blurr and fought with Arcee until Prowl showed up, threatening to detonate their I/D chips. They just taunted him since Ratbat had disabled the chips, but Prowl used a secret passcode to override the tampering and detonate them anyway, seemingly killing the Constructicons. Devisive In truth, the Autobot had already fallen under Bombshell's mind-control, allowing the Insecticon to fake the Constructicons' deaths and hide them away for the purpose of perfecting Devastator. The Verge Once Megatron returned from a long absence, Hook combined with his fellows into the new Devastator—with Prowl serving as the head while Hook relocated to the right leg—who was then deployed to conquer Iacon. Before the Dawn Devastator was taken apart when Prowl fought back and rejected the combiner, which would have allowed Megatron himself to take his place had the Decepticon leader not been defeated in the process of combining. Heavy Is the Head

The Autobots and Decepticons were exiled from Iacon following the battle, but Hook and the Constructicons, fascinated by the nasty memories they'd seen in Prowl's mind during their time as Devastator, left their faction to join their new idol among the Autobots. One brief scuffle with the Dinobots later, they were allowed to stay at the Autobot camp, where they promptly picked a fight with Arcee before the like-minded Dinobots calmed them down. Second Exodus They were caught in the Necrotitan's "death wave", but were healed from its effects when the Titan was brought down by Metroplex. Finis Temporis As the Transformers got together to celebrate the defeat of the Necrotitan, the Constructicons ignored everything in favor of praising Prowl, and later cheered him on when he got into a fight with (as Hook likes to call him) "Clowndome". The Becoming When the planet was invaded by a 70 billion-strong army of Ammonites sent by Shockwave, the Constructicons followed Prowl into battle where Hook convinced Prowl they had to form Devastator and protect Metroplex from Monstructor. Black Planet They were victorious, and went on to witness Megatron defect to the Autobots. ...And the Damage Done

Prowl, who had finally realized the advantages of having a combiner on his side, brought the Constructicons with him to Earth when Optimus Prime went in search of Alpha Trion. The Constructicons saved the Ark-7 from burrowing human missiles, and formed Devastator to fight the Decepticons under Galvatron's command. Detonation Boulevard After the battle they returned to the Ark-7 alongside the Autobots. The Mind Bomb

Thanks to Scavenger's stint as an information-leaking double agent, Prowl was able to laucnh a sneak attack on the EDC's Marshall Island base, using stealth paint to get the drop on his enemies. I Dream of Wires Back aboard the Ark-7, Prowl and the Constructicons listened in on Optimus Prime's conversation with Alpha Trion. The Crucible

When the Autobots began hunting for the Enigma of Combination, Prowl and the Constructicons went in search of Spike Witwicky. Signals, Calls, and Marches Their search took them to Tokyo, where they secured their asset but ran afoul of Galvatron. Vs. Feigning a truce with their mutual nemesis, the team stormed the Onyx facility by forming Devastator. Devastator ultimately went berserk due to his loathing of Spike and ruined the mission, allowing Scoop to abscond with the Enigma. The team was forced to retreat back to the Ark-7. The Obliterati

After Prowl learned that Optimus Prime had helped Starscream form a permanent alliance with Caminus, the team hijacked the ship's new spacebridge to travel to Cybertron The Possible Light, where they formed Devastator. Superion and Defensor ultimately brought down Devastator, and the Constructicons were sent to a secret prison - Starscream wasn't done with them yet. Mistakes and Mayhem Seeking a new edge, Starscream drafted Scoop into the team, knowing that Scoop's fanaticism would force Devastator to obey his orders. You, Me, and the Universe Ultimately, however, Devastator wound up losing control. After Optimus Maximus and his fellow combiners felled the giant, Hook was re-imprisoned with the other Constructicons. All That Remains

Although the individual Constructicons were still considered criminals, Starscream made allowances for releasing his own "loyal to the Chosen One" combiner when necessary. The Constructicons reformed Devastator at Starscream's command to thwart a group of Decepticons commandeering the space bridge, Once Upon a Time on Earth and to siege the colony ship Carcer when Elita-One refused to transform her Titan in defense of Cybertron from Sentinel Prime's zombie fleet. Desperate Measures

Following the impeachment and arrest of Starscream, the Constructicons received pardons, and later watched from a nearby rooftop as Onyx Prime and Liege Maximo arrived on Cybertron and joined Optimus and his retinue for a meeting in the Spire. Though the other Constructicons initially laughed off off Scoop's renewed faith in his "Chosen One," who had seemingly foreseen this series of events, Another Mine the team wound up forming Devastator to break an indignant Starscream out of prison. With Onyx Prime unmasked as none other than Shockwave, the Constructicons wound up battling against Victorion on Starscream's orders. The Hallowing Though they were initially able to withstand her gravity powers, Endless Forever this was soon revealed to be the work of Liege Maximo, using supplies of Ore-4 to buffer them against Victorion's attacks. When Arcee destroyed this ore, Victorion was able to unleash a devastating gravitational onslaught which fatally crushed Hook and the other Constructicons. Unforgivable

Hook cut Optimus Prime into pieces in his sleep, allowing the Decepticons to steal the Autobot leader's parts and use them for nefarious purposes. Negligence Is the Greatest Enemy! Transformers vs. G.I. Joe

Hook and the other Constructicons formed Devastator to attack the G.I. Joe starship Defiant, successfully destroying one of its two modules. Devastator was blown back into his components when Wild Bill rammed the other module straight into him. First appearance: Galaxies #1

Hook was forged at or around the end of the War of the Threefold Spark. An era of rebuilding and renewal, Hook came together with five other newly forged 'bots to form the Constructicons and help shape the Cybertron to come. They were recruited by the visionary architect Termagax to help build in the ruins of Iacon. Eager to make a name for themselves, the team promptly clashed with Termagax's conservative second-in-command Wheeljack—for while Wheeljack sought to merely rebuild Iacon, Termagax saw the potential for something bigger and better to take its place. While excavating in Rivets Field, the team inadvertently discovered the Enigma of Combination. Urged on by Termagax, Hook and his team agreed to expose themselves to the energies of the artifact, transforming themselves into a new combiner: raw power which Termagax hoped to harness and reshape into the ultimate building tool. Constructicons Rising, Part 1

Despite this new strength and power, Hook and his team struggled to master their combination, fighting against a seventh, destructive personality that surfaced whenever the team combined... and whose love of indiscriminate destruction jeopardized their reconstruction efforts. Finally, however, Termagax encouraged the team to work with this anger, rather than against it, and harness the powerful emotion to unite them in their shared purpose of rebuilding Iacon. Although the team would eventually complete their goal of turning the ravaged cityscape into a beautiful metropolis, they would not enjoy the fruits of their labor for long—Wheeljack brought his concerns to the attention of Nominus Prime, and the Prime arranged matters so that the team would be reassigned to the distant colony of Mayalx to oversee the construction of a new energon refinery. Constructicons Rising, Part 3 There, the Constructicons labored for many years, deliberately kept under-fueled and tired so they couldn't combine, while they grew increasingly resentful of the world that had abandoned them while reminiscing about their glory days. Constructicons Rising, Part 1

With their future on Cybertron uncertain, Scrapper eventually came to believe that the team's future lay elsewhere and began training his teammates in the ways of combat, holding regular sparring sessions in an improvised gladiatorial arena. During one particular session, the team was interrupted by the Insecticon Bombshell, who, after a brief misunderstanding, told them his story: like the Constructicons, Nominus Prime had also banished the Insecticons for fear of their unique matter-eating abilities. Knowing that the team could be of use to The Rise, Bombshell manipulated the team into unknowingly aiding the cause, encouraging them to recapture their glory days. Constructicons Rising, Part 2

After some deliberation, the six builders agreed to help the Constructicons, and after filling up on Bombshell's provided energon cubes the team combined for the first time since their banishment—but instead of uniting based on their shared urge to create, the Constructicons combined to destroy Mayalx and everything it represented to them, a spiteful, destructive rampage that ended with every 'bot in the colony slaughtered and the statue of Nominus Prime toppled. Unaware that the Insecticons had deliberately goaded them into such wanton slaughter so that the energon they processed from the many remains could be secretly shipped back to Cybertron to fuel the rise, Scrapper told his team that, for the first time in their lives, they were finally free to do and build whatever they wanted. Constructicons Rising, Part 4

Eventually, Shockwave called the Constructicons back to Cybertron and the Rise. When they arrived, however, Shockwave's former superior Exarchon had laid claim to the Rise and their bases. The Threefold Spark was eager to take a new body as powerful as Devastator, and tried to usurp the combiner. Together, Hook and the Constructicons were strong enough to prevent Exarchon from possessing their collective spark or sparks, though the effort forced them apart and left them out of action. War's End Part Four With Exarchon soon destroyed, the Rise were fully absorbed into the Decepticons, and Shockwave provided the Constructicons to Megatron's cause. Hook and the others were happy to be home, and to be wanted as Devastator. They saw themselves as heroes destined to end the war, and were happy to oppose the legacy of Nominus Prime. Fate of Cybertron

Energon Universe

Hook was one of several Decepticons dormant in the Ark. He and his fellow Constructicons continued slumbering due to the lack of resources. Starscream was able to revive them eventually and they played welcoming committee to the Autobot's counterattack assault on the Ark. Starscream then ordered them to combine into Devastator. Transformers #5

Devastator was eventually defeated by Optimus Prime and broke back down into the Constructicons. Hook then retreated with the other Decepticons. Transformers #6 Hook, along with the other Constructicons, was present for the fight between Starscream and Soundwave over leadership over the Decepticons. He and the other Decepticons cheered Soundwave's name to honor him after he won. Transformers #7

Commercial appearances

• Hook and his teammates were masquerading as construction vehicles, when they suddenly decided to horrify their human operators by revealing their true nature. As their human drivers bailed out and fled, the team combined into Devastator, who crashed his fists together, creating a surge of energy that crackled all the way through his gigantic body. • After being upgraded into their "Generation 2" bodies, the Constructicons went about causing "really big destruction" by driving through a construction site and then merging into Devastator. Something of a perfectionist, Hook considers his fellow Constructicons somewhat crude and dim-witted, as they don't have his exacting standards or attention to detail. Whether it's micro adjustments to a printed circuit or welding together two fifty ton girders, Hook applies the same precision to both tasks.

Hook was summoned through the Spacebridge on Earth, and proceeds to help Starscream when he leads an operation to claim another piece of the Fractal Map, with a plan to just attack. He told Starscream not to come crying lubricant if he gets all bent out of shape. Power Play Campaign

Hook and the other Decepticons are then called to the final battle for the Codex Key. Before the mission, Megatron comments on how Hook will be "Such a valuable asset" while Hook whines about the situation complaining that everyone "rushes into the fight" and how he himself is running out of spare parts.. Hook, along with the other Constructicons, combine to form Devastator, who goes on a destructive rampage. This spree lasts until they run into Superion. Combiner Wars Campaign

Hook and his fellow Constructicons worked to penetrate the Frozen Fortress. When they got in, Deathsaurus was waiting inside. Hook then decided to brag about the might of the Constructicons, and was about to combine, but Megatron stopped them, saying that the tunnel they built would collapse. Monster Within

Hook later complained that he, an artist master craftsman, was being used just as a cog in Devastator machinery. The complaints of the other Constructicons made Megatron reconsider that relying solely on Devastator was a serious risk. Breaking Point

• Like his fellow Constructicons Long Haul and Scavenger, Hook has an animation model gaffe. His robot legs are regularly shown as being entirely gray from the thigh down and more lacking in details than most other Generation 1 animation models for some reason. As the series went on, his legs regularly lost more details, especially in the AKOM episodes which would sometimes lose the cab on his left leg entirely or render it is as a much larger left foot.
• Hook's gun was used in the toy references photos for both himself and Scavenger, thus leading to the pair wielding similarly designed guns in their cartoon models. Scavenger's actual toy gun was absent from all of the Constructicon reference photos, leaving it entirely unused.^[1]
• Hasbro apparently lost the trademark to the name "Hook" some time ago, as it was not used between 1993 and 2012 despite several Constructicon-homage teams appearing during this time. "Hightower" served as the new default crane-bot name in the interim. With the release of the 2013 Kre-O Decepticon Hook, however, Hasbro has reacquired "Hook", albeit only when prefixed with a "Decepticon" or "Constructicon".
• Hook's original toy is consistently depicted with his chest sticker reversed in the box art.
