Ironhide contributes his strength to the new Maximal gestalt warrior Magnaboss.[1] Once upon a time, he fought in the Great War and was known for meeting problems head on, but now with age and experience he has become a calmer, wiser Ironhide respected for his work for peace.[2]

In pachyderm beast form, he's a thundering force of nature.

  • Magnaboss (Ultra Class, 1997)
  • Accessories: 2 "blunt-force battle clubs"
  • Known designers: Takio Ejima (TakaraTomy)
Sold only as part of an Ultra class 3-Pack, Beast Wars Ironhide transforms from an African elephant via a rather complex process involving numerous hinges and unfolding panels into a rather stumpy robot. Although dumpy, he is nothing if not well-armed: he has a flip-out spike at the end of each arm, and comes with two "blunt-force battle clubs" that can be plugged into the holes at the ends of his arms or flip out from behind his elephant mode ears as guns.
Ironhide is packaged with Prowl and Silverbolt, and combines with them to form his Magnaboss. Ironhide forms the bulk of the combiner's mass, including all four limbs.
Ironhide was slightly redecoed by Takara to create Santon.

Notes

  • The 1997 Magnaboss toy included no information about its three components beyond their names and a personality trait ostensibly different from the Generation 1 individuals of the same names. In 2007, IDW Publishing's Beast Wars Sourcebook, written by Ben Yee and Simon Furman, would characterize the toy trio as the original Autobots having survived to become Maximal Elders in the 24th century. By contrast, the Earth Wars mobile game in 2021 would depict lion Prowl and eagle Silverbolt as Maximal namesakes of the Autobots.

Foreign names

  • Japanese: Ironhide (アイアンハイド Aianhaido)
