- Janine Melnitz is a Ghostbusters-affiliated human from Ghostbusters.
Janine Melnitz is the Ghostbusters' secretary, taking calls from clients and sending the team on jobs. Given all the paranormal encounters she's had since being hired, there's not much that fazes her anymore, but when things break or go wrong, she's usually the one that has to clean up the mess.
She doesn't get paid nearly enough for this.

Having been exposed to all manner of bizarre phenomena as the Ghostbusters' secretary, Janine took the appearance of Ectronymous Diamatron in stride, being more concerned with the Cybertronian's clumsy disposition and eight syllable name, giving him the nickname of "Ectotron." When the ghostly Starscream then made himself known, Janine was quick to grab a proton grenade before she was talked down. After Ectotron had managed to contact the other Autobots, Janine answered a call from Mr. Colchamiro about a ghost terrorizing Brooklyn. After the ghost had been busted and Optimus Prime arrived, Janine explained human idioms to the Autobot leader. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 3

- From the third season of The Real Ghostbusters onward, Janine was voiced by Kath Soucie.
