"In the name of the Moon, I'll punish you!"

The "Warrior of the Moon" of Multiforce, Mach (マッハ Mahha) is easily the most soft-spoken of the team. Incredibly quick to make friends, he's downright gentle when dealing with his companions, having grown especially close to his nominal partner Tackle. Their roles often keep them far apart, so the two spend much of their time together combined into Machtackle.

And yet despite this lightness when dealing with the often hot-headed Multiforce, Mach is no slouch in combat, and will not hesitate to join a fight against evil. Harnessing the power of the Moon, Mach can twist gravity to keep his foes disoriented and open to his teammates' attacks.

Mach looks for clues.jpg

Dispatched to look into unusual sinkholes in southern Canada, Mach and Tackle encountered a crazy old man named Tom, who named Mach "Robot number 1". Tackle explained to him that the sinkholes were caused by underground water being diverted away uphill. Mach discovered a prairie dog who he claimed as a new friend. After leaving his new acquaintance with Tom, the pair went westward to find out where the water was being diverted to and happened upon an unusual factory. After Tackle pointed out that the factory looked phony, they realized they'd stumbled upon a secret Deception hydroelectric plant and reported their find to Star Saber.

However, the Decepticons overheard their transmission and soon the Breastforce was hot on their heels. The two split up, with Hellbat menacing Mach through the woods. However, Mach was able to lose Hellbat by using the Decepticon's own missiles to create a smokescreen, causing Hellbat to crash into some trees. Mach then tried to contact Tackle, but was delayed because Tackle used his communicator to lay a trap for Jallguar. When the pair reunited, Tackle gave Mach an earful about careless transmissions, which prompted an argument between the two. This prompted Mach to mockingly suggest that Tackle take over being the top-mounted member of the pair for once, to which Tackle surprised Mach by agreeing to it. Before they could debate it further, the pair were interrupted by an attack from Killbison. The pair responded by merging into Tacklemach for the first time. However, Tacklemach's debut battle didn't go so well, and they had to be bailed out by Star Saber.

Star Saber, Mach, and Tackle then joined Wingwaver and Dashtacker in an attack on the Decepticons' hydroelectric plant. Mach then joined Star Saber and Wing in an advance into the plant from above. While Star Saber took on Leozack, Wing and Mach slammed Drillhorn's face into a control panel, triggering the plant's self-destruct mechanism, prompting both Autobots and Decepticons to beat a retreat. The Autobots then met back up with Tom at the new lake on his property, where Tackle confided to Mach that he was content to remain on the bottom of their combination from now on. But before Mach could console him, Tom asked the Autobots to hold off on filling in the new lake, as there was money to be made charging people to fish in it.Mach and Tackle

Micromaster

While testing out stealth technology, Mach and the rest of the Multiforce stumbled through a dimensional rift that brought them years into the past. There, Micromasters battled over Mount St. Hillary, where Optimus Prime, Megatron, and their troops slumbered within the Ark. Before Wing could introduce him to the local Autobots, the Multiforce had to head out to meet a Decepticon threat. He combined with Tackle to form Machtackle and helped taking on the Decepticon Sixbuilders. Mach then combined with the rest of the Multiforce into Landcross to send Berserker Sixwing packing. Ask Vector Prime

The Multiforce followed the normal flow of time to return to their native period, making sure to not interfere with events they knew had to transpire. To this end, they avoided the other Transformers and explored the Skomiloch Territories and clashed with the Predators. Their journey enabled them to be able to stop the Praetorian from using the corrupted Reconfiguration Matrix to rewrite all robotic life in the Vega Sector into loyal Scrapmetal. Victory comic

The Multiforce was summoned to Earth by Star Saber and battled Dinoking as Landcross. After defeating Dinoking, Landcross separated in order to swarm Deathsaurus with superior numbers. So Cool! Our Ally, Star Saber!

After having lost a battle to Deathsaurus as Landcross, and being subsequently rescued by Star Saber, Mach helped rescue the animals hurt by the forest fire caused by the Decepticon Emperor. Great Reversal! Star Saber

Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers

Combine with Kicker and Thundar to form LightingSonic!
  • Machtackle (Multiforce, 1989)
  • ID number: C-318
  • Accessories: "Multi-Mach Gun", wings/Landcross chest armor, Landcross hip plate
  • Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy)
Sold in a two-pack with his partner Tackle in the Victory portion of Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, Mach transforms into a vaguely-futuristic not-quite-a Space Shuttle. In vehicle mode, he can mount his "Multi-Mach Gun" on the multiple 5 mm post-holes on his roof.
He can also transform into either the upper or lower half of a two-robot combiner, though his nominal combination is with his pack-in partner Tackle, forming the bottom half of Machtackle.
He can also also form any limb to Landcross, with his default placement as the left arm, while his wing-plate detaches and flips around to form the super-robot's chest plate. If Mach is used as a leg, Dash needs to be used as the other leg, otherwise the two legs will be very different lengths. In theory he can also form part of the super robot torso (as the entire team shares the same general engineering and transformation scheme), but he lacks the proper connections to attach limb-bots or super robot armor.
In 1995, the three Multiforce two-packs were released in mainland China as part of the severely-delayed Hasbro-distributed Chinese Transformers toyline. They came in slightly-modified versions of their original packaging, with the characters' names now written in Chinese, and the Japanese Transformers logo replaced with a similarly styled Chinese language logo saying "Battles of Victory" (胜利之斗争). They toys themselves are also slightly modified, with their molded-on legal/manufacturing information blotted out and modified to remove Takara's name.

  • Landcross (Gift set, 1989)
  • ID number: C-319
  • Accessories: "Multi-Mach Gun", wings/Landcross chest armor, Landcross hip plate
  • Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy)
Mach was also available in a gift set containing the entire Multiforce team. All of the toys in this set are physically identical to their individual releases.
However, this set does not include the bio/trading cards for any of the component duos, only the combined Landcross mode.

Micromaster

  • Mach (DX Micromaster, 2002)
  • Micromaster ID number: 5
  • Accessories: "Multi-Mach Gun", wings/Landcross chest armor, Landcross hip plate
Released in the final wave of Micromaster as a "DX Micromaster", this reissue of Mach was sold in a single-bot box. The box has a small hole in the front to show a number printed on the instructions, revealing which toy is inside.
Though this release (mostly) retains his plastic colors (the black joints are now dark gunmetal), his extra deco has changed. In robot mode, faces have changed to silver, keeping the red to his optics. In shuttle mode, the sticker on his tailfin has been dropped, and an Autobot symbol has been added to its the left side. His wing-piece also had red added to the circular vents on the Landcross chest side.

  • Mach Stealth Mode (DX Micromaster, 2002)
  • Micromaster ID number: 5
  • Accessories: "Multi-Mach Gun", wings/Landcross chest armor, Landcross hip plate
A special "chase" version of Mach was also available, in mostly black plastic and minimal paint operations.
All six members were available in "stealth mode", but only two out of every twelve toys in a case were black versions, and which two the case had was randomized. And no, you can't peek in through the hole in the box to see if it's a chase or not, as the instructions block it off.
