Their workplace is no ruby crystal mine of Burma, but it'll do.

Rad White's parents worked at the Cosmoscope Research Center in Lincoln. Armada #11

After Rad hid the Mini-Cons—the Street Action Team and Sparkplug—in his garage, Alexis freaked out after Carlos gave the robots tools to fix themselves with. Her screaming comments on the situation were interrupted by Rad's mother calling him for supper. Alexis, realizing that responsible adults are better capable of dealing with the situation, suggested that they tell Rad's mother. The boys were adamantly against the idea, promising to never speak to Alexis again if she did so. The next morning, Rad sat down and watched some Saturday morning cartoons as to not rouse her suspicion and then gave her the excuse that the three kids had to work on a class project due Monday and rushed out. At work during Rad's captivity at the Mini-Con Moonbase (which they knew nothing of), Rad's father and mother discussed Rad's future career prospects and his low grades in school. Armada #11

When Rad's father was a boy, he had a "secret-base" he'd sneak off to with his telescope to stare up at all the stars. He'd spend hours doing so, despite it annoying his own parents greatly. He grew up, married and had a son. But despite having left childish things behind him, he still dreamed of going out into space to experience its vastness. Depart

When Rad was still young, the White family moved so that both parents could take jobs at the Cosmoscope Research Center. First Encounter Rad woke from a deep sleep during the car ride, and began babbling about "Starscream" and "Hot Shot". Both of his parents thought he was still half-asleep, unaware that their son was then ricocheting through time after an extra-terrestrial encounter. Drift

Years later, Rad's father was having breakfast with his wife when Rad joined them and asked if the research center had gotten any information on a comet that had recently gotten blown up. Unaware that the Decepticons were behind its destruction, Rad's father told him that the scientists were still at a loss over the comet's disappearance. Rad's mother then told her son not to worry about the comet, and instead concentrate on his schoolwork. After her husband left for work, Rad's mother bemoaned the fact that he once seemed so full of life, but now was buried deep in his work.

Later that night, Rad woke both his parents to talk to them. After warning them that they might not believe what he had to say, Rad tried to explain the premise of the Autobots' and Decepticons' war over the Mini-Cons to his parents. For some reason, the adults didn't believe Rad's story and told him to go back to bed.

Rad's father had nonetheless been moved by Rad's earnestness, and a few hours later came to talk to him in his own bedroom. He confessed to his son that, though the story Rad had told him was hard to believe, he could tell it was important to him. He told his son to follow his dreams, so long as he promised to return home after his adventure.

The next day, Rad's father and his co-workers witnessed the Autobots' ship, the Axalon, launch into outer space. Rad's father put two and two together, realizing that the outlandish story his son had told him was far from being a fib after all. Depart
