Fiction

IDW movie comics

After humans who were unrelated to NEST intervened in a battle between Autobots and Decepticons, Ratbat was among the minions Soundwave dispatched to attack this new human threat, leaving one alive for interrogation. The operation was not a success, and eventually, Soundwave was forced to pull out his forces, including Ratbat. Nefarious #1 Ratbat joined Buzzsaw, Rumble, Dirt Boss and Beastbox in freeing the captured Soundwave from a Bumblebee led Autobot convoy in New Mexico. Ratbat battled Knock Out with Buzzsaw, until Bumblebee, seeing his team being overwhelmed, pulled out and allowed the Decepticons to retrieve Soundwave. Nefarious #3 After Soundwave tracked Ravage back to the Initiative base in eastern California, Ratbat and Buzzsaw were sent in to attack it, but were blasted by a high-tech anti-aircraft system. Nefarious #4

Ratbat later spent some time at the Decepticon base in Namibia. Rising Storm #2 He and Soundwave's other minions were unleashed upon Arcee, Chromia and Elita-One when they learned of Shockwave's presence on Earth. Rising Storm #3 The battle ended with the Autobots triggering a massive explosion, though seeing as only Arcee, Chromia, and Soundwave were unharmed, it is likely that the bat-bot died in the blast. When Soundwave realized that the key to the Autobots' victories was their friendship with the humans, he dispatched Ratbat and Buzzsaw to Earth. As the pair tore up a human city, Soundwave intercepted the radio signals sent by the police to the Autobots, causing the humans to believe that the Autobots had abandoned them. Eventually, the Autobots wised up to Soundwave's scheme, and they arrived in the city to combat the two Decepticons. Grabbing Ratbat, Optimus Prime threw the bat into Buzzsaw, and, defeated, the two quickly fled. Satellite Meltdown
