Sam Young Studio (三英 / 삼영 Sam Yeong) is an animation studio that participated in the production of the original Transformers animated series. Sam Young Studios was also retained for other Sunbow productions, such as My Little Pony 'n' Friends and Jem, as well as shows such as Smurfs and Denver the Last Dinosaur.

Along with Studio No. 1, Dai Won Animation Co., Sei Young Animation Co. Ltd., Studio Look, Ashi Productions, and Nakamura Production on Toei Animation's end, Sam Young Studios mostly did the grunt work (uncredited, of course) for AKOM on their episodes of The Transformers, including assistant animation services, camera operations, special effects and finalizing the production.

Notes

  • The outtake reel on the Rhino Entertainment Season 1 set shows their name attached to several scenes from the infamous "Five Faces of Darkness" saga (largely on part 2). The clapperboard gives these clips the production number of 700-67, which is due to season 3 originally having episode production numbers starting with 700-66 (for "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1"), before the decision was made to amend the numbering of the production codes for the season and instead start with 700-86. Internal Sunbow documentation available on the Metrodome DVD release of the series and character model sheets for "Five Faces of Darkness" confirm that the mini-series' episodes were originally numbered 700-66 through -70.
