Scopecougar (スコープクーガー Sukōpukūgā) holds a unique place in the Laser Beast army. As the Special Chief of Staff, he answers only to Emperor Tigerburn, serving as his most trusted advisor. A being utterly devoid of emotion, he calmly uses his many, many years of combat experience to assist Tigerburn in his goals of conquest. Even other Laser Beasts are scared of his quiet, calm demeanor and merciless tactics. He is capable of looking at any situation and calmly seeing all of the angles, and arriving at the most beneficial outcome... with acceptable losses factored in, of course.

He's still a strong opponent despite his advanced age. To give him that extra edge, he carries the Lost Power Laser (ロストパワーレーザー Rosuto Pawā Rēzā) MVP Weapon, which can create a powerful blast that simply drains the target's energy, rendering it difficult, if not impossible, to fight.

Fiction

Beastformers comic

Scopecougar worked alongside Tigerburn as the Laser Beast society became a cold-blooded, machine-like civilization. Legend of the Three Wise Ones One day their underground city was flooded and the Laser Beasts relocated to the surface, where Scopecougar suggested eliminating the surface-dwelling Beastformers' leader, White Leo, by attacking his homeland of Bistoram. Tigerburn argued that their defenses were strong, so Scopecougar devised a strategy to surround Bistoram by conquering its neighboring countries first. He went on to fight in the ensuing war between the Laser Beasts and Beastformers. Beastformers VS Laser Beasts

When several Autobots joined the Beastformers' side, Tigerburn coveted their power and used one of the Three Wise Ones' gems to merge the bodies of himself, Scopecougar, and Skullgrotes with those of three Headmaster Teens. Scopecougar forcibly fused with Toraizer, granting him a powerful, completely robotic body. LG51 Doublecross Prologue He used his new abilities to control the decapitated body of Repugnus, first by piloting it from within then by turning into its head as a Headmaster, until he was returned to his original form when Seaspray used water from the Well of Transformation to separate him from Toraizer. In 2038, the then-peaceful Beast was invaded by Galvatron II's Decepticons. Scopecougar was part of the joint Beastformer-Laser Beast alliance that fought against the invaders. The Road to Legends' Revival Chapter 3

Toys

Beastformers

  • Scopecougar (Laser Beast, 1988)
  • ID number: 100
  • Accessories: "Lost Power Laser" MVP Weapon (usually)
Part of the second—and rarer—assortment of Takara's Beastformers individually-boxed Laser Beasts, Scopecougar is an anthropomorphic cougar in high-tech blue armor. He has a transparent orb in his torso, revealing the elemental power of Fire, Water, or Wood when you look through it into a light source.
Nominally, he comes with the cougar-themed "Lost Power Laser" blaster. However, there is also a chance he could come with the weapon from one of the other 11 Laser Beasts in his shipping case; matching the Beasts with their same-numbered weapons was part of the "role-playing game" attached to the line, encouraging kids to buy more of the toys.
This toy was actually released in Hasbro's Battle Beasts line as part of the "Shadow Warriors" series, but in an exceptionally limited capacity, and only in parts of Europe. It was released on an individual card as a "Battle Charger", coming with a unique cougar-themed shield and the red/black version of the W Battler sled. Naturally, this makes this version very expensive to obtain, moreso than the Takara release.

Notes

  • While not confirmed, Scopecougar and Toraizer's fused body in the Legends comic is likely an unreleased Titans Return toy of Toraizer, retooled from Titan Master Sawback.
  • It is unknown what Scopecougar's Hasbro Battle Beasts name would have been.
