Almost as disfigured as Scourge himself.

Scourge was among the Predacons recruited by Magmatron following his arrival on ancient Earth, from one of the many protoforms scattered across the planet. The Gathering #2

Sent to find Maximals out southwest, Scourge ventured into a swamp along with Transquito, Insecticon, Retrax, and Powerpinch. He was very happy to be able to fire onto unsuspecting prey. Unfortunately, they encountered the territorial Mutants, who proceeded to beat the slag out of them. Being the only two Predacons standing after witnessing Powerpinch being dismembered, Scourge and Insecticon quickly turned abdomens, noting the area as "clear with nothing to report." The Gathering #3

He later accompanied Ravage and many other Predacons in seeking out Razorbeast and his forces at the Maximal lair. They managed to surround the Maximals, and he prepared for the final blow...

...only to have his right wing torn off by Bantor (and left behind when he ran off) during a large battle between the Predacon and Maximal forces when Torca burst onto the scene with reinforcements. The Gathering #4

The Predacons didn't give up so easily, though, and Scourge later participated in another attack on the Maximal lair. The Ascending #1 As part of the flying insect squad, he fought well against the ground-bound Maximals... until his wings were broken again and he got kicked in the chest by Mach Kick. The Ascending #2

The battle was interrupted by the arrival of Rartorata, a minion of Shokaract sent to destroy both the Predacons and Maximals. After firing at this new foe from the ground for a bit, Scourge took to the air again and helped several other fliers wrestle him to the ground. Shortly afterwards, he was deemed fit enough to return to Cybertron and help defeat Shokaract himself. The Ascending #3 Led by Noctorro, Scourge participated in an aerial attack on Shokaract, and was blasted out of the air almost immediately for his efforts. The Ascending #4

Tell me I'm pretty.
  • Scourge (Deluxe Transmetal 2, 1999)
  • Accessories: 2 missiles
Released in the second wave of fourth-year Beast Wars Deluxe figures, Scourge transforms into a monstrous Transmetal 2 locust. His beast mode does not clearly homage any singular species of locust, but instead combines several of their common traits, including elongated rear legs and a brightly-spotted abdomen and wings. His spark crystal is in his left alternate mode eye. His wings swing forward by pulling a plunger-mechanism in his beast mode abdomen while the left wing conceals a spring-loaded missile launcher. The other wing also holds a launch-able missile, but only for storage. The missiles have a blade-like appearance and can be held as swords in the robot mode's right hand.
Like the rest of the Transmetal 2 line, Scourge is heavily shaped by asymmetrical detailing, particularly on the most prominent features of two his modes. For example, his organic compound locust eye is mirrored by a tessellating, hexagonal dome eye which is deliberately fractured to serve as a grip for lifting the eye and revealing his spark crystal. Unfortunately, Scourge is susceptible to flaking on his orange, 'transmetalised' chrome parts.
This toy was sold in Japan as an "import", in Hasbro packaging with a Japanese sticker for legal information, exclusive to Toys"R"Us.
