Spectrosynth drones are physical duplicates of Termagax, created by her to serve as avatars or decoys in the outside world. A single drone is utterly convincing as the real Termagax when she puppeteers it directly through use of a command cradle located in House. She can deploy multiple drones at once, but can only exert fine control over one at a time, with the rest functioning on more basic commands and protocols.

After the fall of the Tether, Termagax had House manufacture a spectrosynth drone and sent it to speak with her former pupil Megatron at Decepticon HQ. She denounced Megatron and the Decepticon movement through it and Megatron responded by destroying the drone, thinking it was the real her. Ratbat examined the remains and informed Megatron of Termagax's ruse. Awakenings

When a swarm of Insecticon clones attacked House at the edge of the Sea of Rust, Termagax prepared to defend her home with the spectrosynth drones before the Autobots arrived to rescue her. Sea of Rust I The Decepticons and Autobots soon came to blows over acquisition of the Enigma of Combination, which Termagax possessed, and she deployed her entire stock of spectrosynth drones onto the battlefield. Sea of Rust II Programmed to attack anything with a Decepticon badge, they aided the Autobot forces, while Termagax controlled a single drone within House to get the Enigma of Combination out of anyone's reach. Before she could do so, Skywarp teleported inside House, destroyed the drone, and stole the Enigma. Enigmatic

• The drones' name is probably a reference to "Spectrosynth", the stage name of undercover Autobot actor Clipshade from the 2015 Robots in Disguise comic.
