Both Wasp and Bumblebee possessed stingers, both proudly displaying them to Sentinel Minor at boot camp. The drill sergeant awarded the former his codename for his fine control over his weapons and the latter for his lack thereof. Autoboot Camp

Revenge of the Fallen battle bio

Bumblebee is equipped with stingers that can demolish machines at short range. Some Transformers can be temporarily disabled with them.[1]

Bumblebee film

Bumblebee possessed two different stinger weapons. One was the Stinger Sword, a small sword that came out of his wrist. The other was the Stinger Blaster, a blaster that his right arm could transform into.

Upon his arrival on Earth, Bumblebee used his Stinger Sword to damage Blitzwing's jet engines, stripping the Seeker of his flight. When he was impaled by the Sector Seven harpoon guns, Bumblebee used the Stinger Sword to cut the ropes of the harpoons to free himself. The sword was broken off during his fight with Shatter, who impaled him in the shoulder with it. She nearly used it to deliver the killer blow before Bumblebee caused a flood that resulted in Shatter getting crushed to death by a cargo ship. Bumblebee

Cyberverse cartoon

Bumblebee can transform one of his hands into a stinger, delivering a massive jolt of electricity into any enemy he strikes with it. This seems to leave them in a stasis-lock-like state for a brief period. The weapon can also function as a blade, and the jolt is surprisingly accurate to the point that when it hits two bots in close contact, only the intended target gets shocked. Bee can also extend 2 stinger blades from the rims of his tires in vehicle mode. Despite the weapon's effectiveness, a few bots can resist the electric shock, and not even Bee himself is safe from the weapon's power.

When Bumblebee and Chromia faced the Dweller, the latter found that stinger could negate the Dweller's hypnotic gas. Dweller In The Depths

Notes

Unused movie stinger model.
  • Bumblebee's stingers were first developed as a concept for the first live-action movie before being scrapped from the finished cut. They were eventually repurposed in other media.
  • Masterpiece Movie Bumblebee explicitly renames movieverse Bumblebee's primary weapon (formerly known as a "plasma cannon" in most tie-in media) as a "Stinger Blaster". This name change has continued since then.
  • Bumblebee's wrist sword and gun arm in the Bumblebee movie were named the Stinger Sword and Stinger Blaster in some toy and merchandise information.[3][4][5] They did not appear to be electrical weapons, unlike other incarnations.
  • In the War for Cybertron: Kingdom webpage, both Bumblebee and Waspinator have the stinger blaster as one of their powers and weapons. This is a nod to their Animated counterparts, who shared a body-type prior to Wasp's transformation into Waspinator.
    • Considering this, it is implied that all Cybertronians wearing the 65356-9292-346 body-type have stingers.
