Overview
Ironhide, thought to be dead, wakes up on the deserted Cybertron after dreaming about the past. As he looks around and tries to get some answers, he continues to drift in and out of these dreams. He encounters a couple of Insecticons and dispatches them. After another dream, Ironhide encounters a strange Transformer that beckons him to follow. Ironhide is led into a city where he meets the eccentric Alpha Trion. Alpha Trion explains that Ironhide had been dead for the past four million years. In the meantime, Cybertron was ruined, abandoned and finally became the habitat of the Insecticon swarm. The incredulous Ironhide is alerted to the weak life signs of Sunstreaker. Ironhide brings Sunstreaker back to the city, battling the Swarm along the way. Sunstreaker apologizes for his betrayal of the Autobots, but Ironhide has no memories of any recent events. Alpha Trion tells Ironhide that he restored him, actually an older version of his body from millions of years ago that died while protecting Optimus Prime. He was brought online because Alpha Trion needed Ironhide to destroy the Insecticon swarm, so that Cybertron could be completely restored. Ironhide is armed and sent on his task. When he is nearly overwhelmed by the Swarm, he receives assistance from Metroplex — the city-bot in which Alpha Trion was working. Alpha Trion had mostly repaired Sunstreaker by this point, and tells Ironhide that he will be leaving Cybertron, while Ironhide stays behind to clean up rogue colonies of remaining Swarm, while Sunstreaker will be coming along with him, as the latter has had some unique experiences with the human race. After another bout of arrogance, Alpha Trion is decked by Ironhide, but when everyone calms down, Alpha reveals that he and Metroplex had been processing Cybertron's atmosphere, removing the deadly toxins in the air and much of the deadly radiation, efforts which saved the Autobots lives when they were marooned on the dead planet. Sunstreaker speaks up and says that he will stay with Ironhide and help atone for his action which killed many Autobots. Alpha boards Metroplex in starship mode and leaves, leaving Sunstreaker trying to confess to Ironhide about the horrible things he did that the latter doesn't remember. Ironhide takes his leave though, to be by himself and reflect on his experiences.
