I get a little bit Genghis 'Con...

Treadshot and Ultra Magnus developed an intimate friendship while they were trained by the weapons masters Treble and Gain. They were inseparable. Were, that is, until Ultra Magnus decided to join his brother Optimus Prime's evil Autobot insurgency. Magnus felt betrayed when Treadshot said he could not go down that path, and Treadshot felt equally enraged when he saw what his former friend was capable of.

Again and again they clashed on the battlefield, each instance more heated than the last. Treadshot's hatred for Ultra Magnus had quickly become an obsession. He could think of nothing other than obliterating Magnus once and for all. Treadshot dreamed of beating down Magnus with his fists, making Magnus hurt like Treadshot had been hurt by him, and finally bleaching the stain of him from both the universe and his mind. Only then can Treadshot move on.

They're a lovely couple.

Oh, dear Treadshot, you delightful Decepticon scum! I can't tell you how much I missed you trying to kill me.Ultra Magnus, "Invasion"

"Battle in a box"? More like "Slash in a box," amirite???

When the Decepticons were tipped off by Optimus Prime that Ultra Magnus had escaped his prison on Paradron, Treadshot wasted no time in gathering a team to hunt him down. He took Soundwave, Straxus, and Octopunch through a portal to a strange parallel universe where he encountered Magnus and his army. Here Magnus was after this universe's Rarified Energon so that he could open up a hole in space time to bring its Earth to his Cybertron, destroying them both. But when Treadshot appeared, Magnus used his stolen Terminus Blade to stage an escape.

But Ultra Magnus could not hide from Treadshot no matter where he fled. Treadshot, with the help of that universe's heroic Autobots, fought Ultra Magnus across the entirety of their Ironworks headquarters, inflicting heavy damage on all sides. Meanwhile, Treadshot stayed in communication with Sir Soundwave as the latter attempted to halt Magnus's doomsday device. Ultimately, Soundwave was able to expand the forcefield surrounding the contraption to cover the entire planet. Treadshot and the heroic Decepticons believed this had averted the crisis, but Magnus scoffed. He wanted to destroy this Earth, yes, but he'd also set in motion the destruction of its entire universe! As Earth was pulled into orbit over their universe's Cybertron, the Earth's entire dimension was destroyed.

You! You shall be the bride of the Lost Skeleton!

Magnus declared victory and retreated as Treadshot swore profusely at him. Invasion Treadshot continued to pursue Ultra Magnus on positive-Earth, and refused to wait for reinforcements from Cybertron before engaging the evil Autobot and his forces. Unfortunately, Magnus defeated Treadshot before turning his attention to his newly arrived positive counterpart. Distant Fissures Subsequently, however, Treadshot was treated to the sight of Magnus's ultimate defeat when Nexus Prime of the Thirteen arrived and reclaimed the Terminus Blade, banishing Magnus to some ghoulish dimension fitting for a criminal of his magnitude.
