Army of One.

Among Megatron's band of Predacon lunatics, Vice Grip is an aberration. He is unerringly loyal to his leader, completely dependable, and puts his all into every mission he is assigned. There is little with which to find fault in Vice Grip. Even the vilest of Predacons under Megatron's command have respect for him.

  • Vice Grip (Basic, 1998)
  • Accessories: Tail-pincer
Beast Wars Vice Grip was a BotCon 1998 exclusive toy. A blue and gray redeco of Powerpinch, he transforms into an organic earwig. His insect-mode tail becomes a hand-weapon with snapping pincers.
Vice Grip came in a clear plastic baggy with a tech spec card, one of the few convention toys to be sold in that manner during the 3H era. Attendee feedback indicated that the majority preferred the toys to have more impressive packaging, even though this meant higher prices. Both he and Antagony were limited to 600 pieces.
This mold was also used to make Beast Wars II Scissor Boy.

Notes

  • Vice Grip's Tech Spec numbers and bio were crafted by Glen Hallit. 3H wasn't allowed to use translucent plastic on this toy, and so they added metallic flakes to add color depth. [1]
  • Since Vice Grip came in a baggie instead of fancy packaging, he cost only $7 on the BotCon 1998 preregistration form! If you wanted to preorder both him and Antagony, it was only $32. [2]
