A product of Laser Beast super-science, the W Battler (Wバトラー W Batorā, aka Double Battler) is a powerful, lightweight, hyper-fast reconnaissance vehicle made up of two three-wheeled, skateboard-like flight-capable mini-vehicles, the Red Battler and Gray Battler. While they are unable to match the raw power of the Beastformers' Fortresses and Head Hunters, they are still grave threats, enabling the Shield Battlers to perform super-fast hit-and-run tactics that the larger, slower machines have a harder time countering.

The Red and Gray Battlers are equipped with biocomputers that allow the Shield Battler-6 to remotely control them via telepathy, though only team Captain Stronghurricane and Vice-Captain Killerhound can control the combined form. The combined mode is capable of traveling at 501 kilometers an hour on the ground, at which point the machine can burst into warp speed, with navigation aided by its highly-sensitive spacetime radar.

Beastformers

  • Shield Battler-6 (Gift set, 1988)
The W Battler sleds are small three-wheeled machines, with the rear pair of wheels featuring through-axle construction for speedy rolling. They have a foot peg for the holes in the left feet of Laser Beasts and (most) Beastformers, and slots in the front wheel assembly that allow the individual beasts' shields to create a chariot-like mini-vehicle. The sleds can also link up with couplers on the front and back. Further, another peg sits towards the front-center of the sled, which is the right size to peg into the small hole in the back of a Laser Beast (the one that lets light into their torso-gems reveal their elemental power) to form a backpack.
In the Takara Beastformers line, one Gray Battler and one Red Battler were packed in with the "Shield Battler-6" gift set. This set is crazy-expensive to acquire today.
These two sleds were also available in the Hasbro European-market, super-late-run Battle Beasts "Shadow Warriors" series, as part of the "Battle Chargers" subgroup. These packs have a single figure with laser gun, a personalized shield, and a sled, but the figures/shields are different from the Takara Shield Battler 6: the (unnamed) Brown Lion and Hustlebear figures have a Gray Battler, while Puzzlecolor, Sea Panic and Scopecougar each have a Red Battler... and Dragon Seahorn comes with a purple sled not found in any other Beastformers/Battle Beasts release. Naturally, this unique color sled (and the Hasbro-only shields) are easily some of the most expensive Beastformers-related items on the secondary market. It is suspected that Takara's six Shield Battlers were available in the Hasbro line, what with their unique shields existing and all, but this has not been confirmed.
