Cial’s business jet terminal handles 1k flights in 14 mnts
Kochi: In just 14 months since its inception, Cochin International Airport Ltd’s (Cial’s) business jet terminal has facilitated the operation of 1,000 business jet flights. The terminal, built exclusively for chartered and private flights, was inaugurated in Dec 2022.
According to Cial officials, it is a rare feat for the airport. “Spanning over 40,000 sq ft, the biggest of its kind in the country, the business jet terminal located at Terminal 2 stands as the archetype of modernity and luxury.Under the tagline ‘Fly Elegantly’, the jet terminal facilitates a commuter transfer from the aircraft door to car door in two minutes. The terminal has quickly gained popularity among corporate clients nationwide. Additionally, the terminal boasts of separate customs and immigration counters along with a boutique duty-free shop,” said a Cial official.
During the G20 meeting held at Lakshadweep in April 2023, the terminal witnessed the arrival of a dozen chartered planes from various countries. Another significant operation handled by the terminal was in Sept 2023 when it catered to a Boeing 737 aircraft with 58 passengers from different parts of the globe. In 2024 alone, the jet terminal handled an impressive 120 services within just two months, and the numbers are projected to exceed 1,200 by the end of this year. “We are happy to celebrate this significant milestone of completing 1,000 flight services,” said Cial managing director S Suhas. “This underscores our commitment to delivering unparalleled services and convenience to our esteemed clientele,” he added.
