Salempur election results 2024: Ramashankar Rajbhar from SP wins
NEW DELHI: Salempur, a constituency in Uttar Pradesh, witnessed a closely contested . Ramashankar Rajbhar from the Samajwadi Party emerged victorious, securing 405,472 votes, which was 3,573 more than his nearest rival, Ravindar Kushawaha of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who obtained 401,899 votes.
Bhim Rajbhar from the Bahujan Samaj Party finished a distant third with 80,599 votes, trailing the winner by 324,873 votes.

Jaibahadur, also known as Jaibahadur Chauhan, representing the Janta Kranti Party (Rashtravadi), secured 8,263 votes, which was 397,209 votes less than the winner.
Shreenarayan Mishra from the Akhil Bhartiya Sarvjan Hit Party received 3,892 votes, while independent candidates Saddam Hussain, Shrikrishna, and Amresh Thakur obtained 3,215, 2,532, and 2,156 votes, respectively. Surya Prakash Gautam of the Sardar Patel Siddhant Party secured 1,785 votes. The NOTA (None of the Above) option was chosen by 7,549 voters, which was 397,923 votes less than the winning candidate.
The election for Salempur Lok Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh was successfully conducted on June 1, with a voter turnout of 51.25 per cent.
Salempur, renowned for its significant political influence, remains a crucial constituency of Uttar Pradesh.

In the 2024 elections, prominent candidates included Bhim Rajbhar from Bahujan Samaj Party, Ravindra Kushwaha from Bharatiya Janata Party, and Ramashankar Rajbhar from Samajwadi Party.
In the 2019 General Assembly Elections, Salempur witnessed a fiercely contested battle with a voter turnout of 54.22%. BJP candidate Ravinder emerged victorious with a victory margin of 1,12,477 votes, securing 4,67,241 votes, defeating R S Kushwaha of BSP, who garnered 3,54,764 votes.

Salempur Lok Sabha constituency comprises parts of Ballia and Deoria districts, with a total of 16,67,282 electors in 2019, according to the Election Commission of India. The constituency has five assembly segments: Bhatpar Rani, Salempur (SC), Belthara Road (SC), Sikanderpur, and Bansdih.
As per Census 2011, Ballia district had a total population of 32,39,774, with a significant rural population of 90.6%. Deoria district had a population of 31,00,946, with 89.8% residing in rural areas. Both districts have a substantial representation of Scheduled Castes and Hindus being the majority population.
The BJP has been victorious in the last two parliamentary elections in Salempur, with the BSP as runners-up. In 2019, the BJP candidate won with over 50% of the votes polled, indicating a significant margin of victory.
