Sambhal election results 2024: SP's Zia Ur Rehman wins
NEW DELHI: The Samajwadi Party candidate, Zia Ur Rehman, emerged victorious in the election, securing 571,161 votes, which was 121,494 more than the runner-up, Parmeshwar Lal Saini of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who obtained 449,667 votes. Chaudhary Saulat Ali from the Bahujan Samaj Party finished third with 152,460 votes, trailing the winner by 418,701 votes.

Several independent candidates contested the election, with Waseem So Moh Shamim receiving 3,864 votes, Mohd Waseem So Mohd Fareed securing 2,077 votes, Anuj Varshney getting 1,677 votes, and Mahandra Singh obtaining 1,294 votes. Other candidates included Santosh from the Kisan Kranti Dal (1,204 votes), Dr. Rashid from the Peace Party (1,060 votes), Taufik Ahamad, an independent candidate (723 votes), and Pavan Kumar from the Log Party (637 votes).
Jaygamul Islam from the Janta Shashan Party received 1,942 votes. The "None of the Above" (NOTA) option was chosen by 7,217 voters, which was 563,944 fewer than the votes received by the winning candidate.
The election for Sambhal Lok Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh took place successfully on May 7, with a robust voter turnout of 62.91 per cent.
Sambhal, renowned for its significant political influence, remains a crucial constituency of Uttar Pradesh. In the 2024 elections, prominent candidates included Shaukat Ali from Bahujan Samaj Party, Parmeshwar Lal Saini from Bharatiya Janata Party, and Shafiqur Rahman Barq from Samajwadi Party.

In the 2019 General Assembly Elections, Sambhal witnessed a fiercely contested battle with a notable 64.67% voter turnout. SP candidate Dr Shafiqur Rehman Barq emerged victorious with a victory margin of 1,74,826 votes, securing 6,58,006 votes, defeating
Parameshvar Lal Saini of BJP, who garnered 4,83,180 votes.

Sambhal Lok Sabha constituency comprises the assembly segments of Kundarki, Bilari, Chandausi (SC), Asmoli, and Sambhal, spread across the districts of Moradabad and Sambhal, with a total of 18,28,764 electors in 2019, according to the Election Commission of India.
With almost half of the constituency comprising Muslims and Scheduled Castes accounting for about 17.5%, Sambhal presents a diverse demographic. The constituency had a literacy rate of less than 48%. The region's political landscape has witnessed various parties claiming victory over the years, with the BJP winning once in 2014.
The area is known for the ancient Kalki temple, renovated by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore three centuries ago. Recent political developments revolve around a new Kalki Dham temple, the foundation stone of which was laid recently.
