Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has taken on the task of creating the music for Shankar's upcoming film, ‘Indian 2’. The much-anticipated sequel to the 1996 blockbuster was highly acclaimed for its music by AR Rahman. Director S Shankar has chosen Anirudh instead of AR Rahman for this sequel. Since Rahman’s absence in the film has been a topic of discussion since the project's announcement, Anirudh reacted to the same during the audio launch of 'Indian 2.'
Anirudh humorously addressed questions about stepping into Rahman's shoes. He quoted a famous Rajinikanth dialogue from Sivaji: "Six ku apram seven da.. Rahman sir ku apram evan da" (just like after six there comes seven.. but who comes after Rahman sir?), drawing laughs and applause from the audience.

In a recent interview AR Rahman talked about his absence from ‘Indian 2’. He shared that Kamal Haasan had indeed approached him for the sequel. However, Rahman revealed that after years of collaboration with Shankar, starting with ‘Gentleman’ in 1993, he felt it was time for a change. He mentioned the exhaustion he felt after composing for Shankar’s ‘2.0’ starring Rajinikantha nd Akshay Kumar.

Despite not being part of the film, Rahman expressed confidence in Anirudh and acknowledged him as one of the most sought-after music directors in the South Indian film industry. Additionally, Rahman will soon reunite with Kamal Haasan in Mani Ratnam's ‘Thug Life’.
‘Indian 2’ will hit theaters on July 12, featuring a star-studded cast including Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, the late Nedumudi Venu, and Priya Bhavani Shankar.
