Vijay Sethupathi finally reveals why he refused to share the screen with Krithi Shetty in 'DSP': 'She is a little older than my son'
There were a lot of theories circulating about Vijay Sethupathi’s refusal to act opposite Tollywood actress Krithi Shetty, and now the actor has revealed why he did not agree to do a romantic role with the actress.
While promoting his upcoming film, 'Maharaja', Vijay told Behindwoods that he declined the offer to be paired opposite Krithi in Ponram's 2022 film ‘DSP’ because he had already played her father's role in Buchi Babu Sana’s 2021 film ‘Uppena’, which the makers were unaware of.

The actor mentioned a scene in ‘Uppena’ where Krithi was nervous while they were shooting. He asked her to think of him as her real father during that scene. According to Sethupathi, Krithi is a little older than his son, hence he declined the role. Anukreethy Vas shared the screen with Sethupathi in ‘DSP’.
In 2023, he told the press that he turned down a project after realizing they were planning to cast Krithi in the movie. The actor said that he had already played Bebamma’s father in ‘Uppena’, and the national level acceptance the movie received was also a reason not to do a romantic role with her in any other movies.

Vijay’s ‘Maharaja’ will hit theaters on June 14. The movie also features Anurag Kashyap in a lead role. The actor will also be part of Vetrimaaran’s ‘Viduthalai 2’ and ‘Gandhi Talks’.
Meanwhile, Krithi will be seen in Sriram Adittya’s ‘Manamey’ with Sharwanand, set to be released on June 7.
