NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah, who on Friday reviewed the functioning of multi agency centre (MAC), the nerve-centre within the Intelligence Bureau that tackles internal security challenges, stressed on the need to stay “one step ahead” while responding to new and emerging threats and called for constitution of a team of young, technically proficient and passionate officers from all agencies engaged in national security, to dismantle the terror eco-system using big data, artificial intelligence (AI), machine-learning (ML) and other technological advancements.
At the review attended by heads of various security and law enforcement agencies, Shah informed them that the MAC framework, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is poised to undergo a major technical and operational revamp to increase its reach and effectiveness. He exhorted all the stakeholders to bolster these efforts further through prompt responses and aggressive follow up of shared inputs
Shah instructed the heads of various intelligence and enforcement agencies to adopt a whole-of-the-government approach towards national security and ensure that all agencies work with greater synergy to dismantle terror and its supporting ecosystem and address the evolving security threat scenario of the country.
While reviewing the overall internal security situation in the country and the fight against terrorism — particularly against the backdrop of uptick in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir — the home ministry asked the participants to increase engagement in MAC and make it into a cohesive platform that brings together all the law enforcement agencies, anti-drug agencies, cyber security and intelligence agencies, for decisive and prompt action.
Appreciating how MAC has earned the trust of its constituents, Shah called upon it to continue working 24X7 as a platform for pro-active and real-time sharing of actionable intelligence amongst various stakeholders including last-mile responders.D
