O artigo analisa a cobertura dos jornais Novidades (católico) e Diário da Manhã, apoiadores do Estado Novo, e Diário de Lisboa, de cariz oposicionista, so-bre a repercussão no Brasil da invasão aos enclaves indianos de Dadrá e Nagar-Aveli em 22 de julho de 1954. Ou seja, se debruça sobre os textos que ex-põem a posição de apoio das autoridades brasileiras, as manifestações da comunidade portuguesa no Bra-sil, a opinião da intelectualidade relativamente ao caso, entre outros. Demonstramos como, entre o final de julho e o início de agosto desse ano, tais notí-cias foram frequentes nos três periódicos, com sutis diferenças de abordagem entre eles. Esta presença expressiva do Brasil nos jornais é compreendida no contexto da adoção pelo Estado Novo, em meados da década de 40 do séc. XX, do luso-tropicalismo como ideologia colonial, e é analisada a partir do conceito de imaginário social de Bronislaw Baczko (1991).
