Integrating BPM & SOA has challenges, especially those associated with the composition of applications and sub-problems related to it, such as the discovery of web services. This paper addresses the problem of discovery through the development of a model. The model integrates the BPM and SOA, whereas semantics and QoS, the distribution and variety of providers, aligned to the business model of SaaS software. The article discusses the issue of discovery, summarizes the state of the art, introduces and shows preliminary results of the implementation of the model.

Abstract -In this paper we present a semi-automated process of brokerage for a cluster of mould and die industries located in Caxias do Sul, RS, called TechMoldes. This process is represented by a multi-agent-based decision support system that helps a ...

This work aims at presenting an approach for agile scheduling coordination and supervision of distributed production orders, giving rise to a new dimension of the scheduling activity, not only under the intra-organizational perspective, but also the inter-organizational, comprising the whole productive chain. It generally presents a prototype being developed, based on the paradigms of multi-agent negotiation and decision support systems. Aspects related with the information modeling and integration in the several levels of CIM are tackled. At the end, a series of considerations is made, pointing out the results reached with the current prototype, and the several difficulties and challenges existent for the accomplishment of cooperative inter-organizational scheduling.

The software sector plays a very relevant role in the current world economy as a means to face many societal challenges, especially considering that the sector mostly consists of SMEs. Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is a recent ICT paradigm to help face new challenges in ICT developments and market. ICT companies should invest in innovative products and services to be sustainable, but SOA can be complex and a SOA “product” has many differences compared to manufacturing, which most innovation models are directed to. We present results of an innovation model directed at independent SMEs of SOA providers interested in innovating together, sharing costs, risks and benefits. The model is flexible so as to support the intrinsic uniqueness of innovation processes. The model is complemented with so-called functional guidelines, informing SMEs managers of the most important issues to handle during various steps of an innovation. An example of the model usage is presented, as well as the...

ABSTRACT Much efforts have been made to create computer systems to provide assistance for people in their daily activities, at home and in business. However, they usually follow different approaches that often do not respect the required compatibility and interoperability with each other besides not being connected with legacy systems and new software services. In this way, this paper presents an open reference architecture for personal softwares assistants, allowing the derivation, personalization and deployment of interoperable instances of assistants regarding users' and companies' processes requirements.

ABSTRACT Several efforts have been made towards creating personal assistant software (PAS) to help people in their daily life activities, at home or at work. In spite of the complexity PASs can have, most of the works focuses on developing solutions only for very specific tasks, without supporting integration and interoperation with other systems (including other PASs) and with enterprise systems and their respective business processes. Aiming at coping with these requirements, this work presents an open reference architecture for PASs, allowing that interoperable instances can be derived, personalized, implemented and deployed according to users' profiles and to enterprises' processes. An instance of a PAS has been derived and its results are discussed.

This paper addresses the problem of BPM and SOA integration presenting a model of dynamic discovery of services as an approach to improve the agility of SOA-based applications. Many researches have tackled the discovery problem. However, in general they fail in discovering the most suitable service regarding business processes needs. The main contribution of this work is to offer a

ABSTRACT Software services have represented a powerful view to support the realisation of the service-oriented architecture (SOA) paradigm. Using open standards and facilitating systems projects, they have increasingly been used as a corporate architectural approach to create interoperable services-based software solutions that can more easily be reused and shared across disparate applications. In the context of software companies, most of them are small firms having enormous difficulties to keep competitive. One strategy to enhance their sustainability is to enlarge partnerships among them at a more valuable level by jointly offering (web) services-based solutions. However, their culture of collaboration is low, and partnerships are usually done with the same companies and sporadically. This article presents an approach to support a more intense collaboration among software companies to attend business opportunities in a more agile way, joining capacities and capabilities which they would not have if they worked alone. This requires, however, some preparedness. From the perspective of business processes, they should understand how to carry out a collaboration more properly. This is essentially what this article is about. It presents a comprehensive list of collaborative business processes and base practices that can also act as a guide for service providers’ managers to implement and manage the collaboration along its lifecycle. Processes have been validated and results are discussed.
