As of 1st June, our salaries increased for our Store Assistants and Deputy Store Managers! 💰 That means that our Store Assistants will now receive £12.40 p/h and those in the M25 will receive £13.65 p/h. Our roses aren’t just a pretty face 💐 We’ve been working with Fairtrade producers over the last 10 years to support workers from Herburg Roses farm, who grow our beautiful Fairtrade roses. Based in Ethiopia, Herburg employs 1,200 workers, 64% of which are women. By sourcing Fairtrade flowers, all our Fairtrade roses adhere to the Fairtrade Standards and generate Fairtrade Premium. Since 2016, Aldi have sold over 191 million Fairtrade flower stems, generating over £1.3 million in Fairtrade Premium for Fairtrade flower producers; which can be invested into healthcare, education and other social projects. In 2019, we went one step further and invested in a 4-year programme to support flower farm workers improve their lives. In 2022, we committed to investing in the next phase of the programme, which includes delivering training to strengthen collective bargaining, improve gender, youth and disability inclusion, as well as building effective trade unions and improving dispute resolution and grievance mechanisms. Choosing Fairtrade products is a tiny swap but it makes a massive difference to people like the workers of Herburg. Look for the FAIRTRADE Mark next time you shop 🌿
