🚨 Disinformation in humanitarian contexts is a challenge we’re all grappling with, but it’s not enough to simply counter harmful content. 🌐 We need to strengthen our information ecosystems with high-quality, fact-based content that resonates with communities, while equipping people with the media literacy skills to navigate today's complex information landscape. A big thanks to DW Akademie for their fascinating presentation to the CDAC Community of Practice on Harmful Information. 🔎 If you’re interested in diving deeper, check out their excellent course, Tackling Disinformation: A Learning Guide: https://lnkd.in/eMi72NJC And don’t forget to explore CDAC’s Community of Practice on Harmful Information to connect with others working on these critical issues: https://lnkd.in/eCU_3hFk 🤝 #disinformation #medialiteracy #mediadevelopment #CommIsAid

⚠️ Humanitarian action faces a new dimension to an old challenge: AI-enabled disinformation. As our latest article – originally published in WACC Global’s Media Development – warns, “the creation of synthetic content is skyrocketing contributing to a growing pollution of the information environment”, eroding trust and endangering lives in conflict and crises. The stakes have never been higher for communication in crisis. But how could we reframe the problem? And what might locally led solutions look like? 🔎 https://lnkd.in/e_dDWZq6 #AI4good #tech4good #techethics #CommIsAid

Attacks on humanitarian workers must stop. Attacks on civilians must stop. Today, on World Humanitarian Day, CDAC Network has joined over 400 organisations and alliances in calling for an end to these attacks, greater protection for aid workers and perpetrators of International Humanitarian Law violations to be held to account. Read the letter here:
