    Sorry, but age does matter 🤷♂️ In the UK, ageism is the most prevalent form of discrimination amongst all age groups, with one in three people experiencing age-based prejudice or discrimination 🤯 Ageism, also known as age discrimination, is when a person is treated unfairly or unfavourably due to their age. And at work is where it seems to happen the most: 👉 60% of employees have witnessed age discrimination in the workplace 👉 One in five employers believe that ageism occurs in their organisation 👉 Just 44% of hiring managers claim that age doesn’t at all factor into their employment decisions A person's date of birth is no indication of how they'll perform in a role, nor should it ever determine the success of a candidate's application, and yet, studies show that a 50-year-old candidate is up to three times less likely to get an interview than a 28-year-old applicant. But it's not just the over-50s who are fighting this battle. How many LinkedIn posts and news headlines have you seen talking about "entitled youths" and "lazy millennials"? Anyone can be the target of age discrimination 🎯 Thankfully, there are plenty of things employers can do to help tackle this problem.     Working hard does not have to equal working miserably 😔 We often assume that the more miserable someone is in their job, the harder they're working People can't possibly be working hard while enjoying their surroundings I've lost count of the number of times that someone has said to me that I "can't really be working" or "it's alright for some" or "some of us are working hard over here" when I talk about how I work while running Flexa 👇 🛩️ I travel and work ❤️ I visit my family and work 🏃 I exercise in the middle of the working day 🍺 I work from the pub 🐶 I pat my dog and work 🌳 I work from outside 🏊 I work on the beach But the point is, I am still working, but I am just trying to enjoy myself as much as possible while working exceptionally hard building a business The future of work is about improving quality of life while improving performance People have been shown to work harder and be more engaged when they are happy, so why not embrace the freedom that a lucky selection of us have access to? Here's me, working at 9pm with room service, after flying to Barcelona for a speaking event at 8am and still fitting in a quick gym session, a dip in the pool, and an afternoon working in the sun ☀️ Hater's gonna hate ✌️ #FlexibleWorking #WorkFromAnywhere #Productivity

    Only 38% of neurodivergent employees agree that their organisation provides them with meaningful support 🧠 Just over half, (54%) say their manager welcomes different styles of thinking, processing information, learning and communication. And just 46% say their manager supports neurodivergent individuals at work effectively. Neurodivergent employees are also more likely than their neurotypical colleagues to feel exhausted at work (45% vs. 30%), and more likely to feel lonely at work (23% vs. 17%). This is according to the 2024 Neuroinclusion At Work report by the CIPD and Uptimize 💡 Every workforce is neurodiverse, but when it comes to diversity and inclusion initiatives, neurodiversity is one aspect that can often be overlooked. Roughly 1 in 7 people in the UK are neurodivergent and live with one or more neurological conditions, including Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, and OCD. Neurodiversity, as described by Harvard Health, is 'the idea that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one "right" way of thinking, learning, and behaving, and differences are not viewed as deficits' ⚡️ It's crucial that organisations adopt more inclusive practices and provide better support and the accommodations necessary for individuals to thrive in the workplace, no matter who they are or how their brains work.
