Over the years we have noticed that senior female talent responds to coaching a little differently compared with male counterparts... And given that we commit to making our coaching applicable, it felt right that we piloted a female-only cohort. We convened 16 incredible women for live version of our well-established and comprehensive R.E.A.L. Coaching Programme. This programme is for senior real estate professionals in leadership positions and focusses on developing resilience, effectiveness, accountability and self-leadership. The results were robust, insightful and very exciting! The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. And the future planning to make this accessible and available to our industry is well-underway. We are delighted to confirm we will be running live and interactive female-only cohorts twice per year from now on - watch this space for more detail coming shortly! It was fascinating to attend The National Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace Conference recently in sunny #Manchester, hosted by Institute of Government & Public Policy. We were reminded just how much the physical environment impacts productivity and stress, though potentially less so than leadership behaviours according to many speakers. We couldn’t help noticing that some of the most cited challenges for our clients were at the heart of the debate! The event broached the following contentious topics: 🏠 Working from home can lower work-related stress: Working from home can lower work-related stress for some people, but it's not a guaranteed solution and may introduce new stressors for others. The impact of working from home on stress depends on individual work styles and preferences, so how do employers navigate this? 🥇 Leadership behaviours are the major cause of stress at work: From micromanaging leaders creating stressful environments of constant criticism, to overloaded employees without their achievements being recognised - this can have a significant impact on mental and physical well-being. 🧑🏫 Efforts should shift to “fixing“ leadership behaviours from trying to fix people experiencing stress: Teaching employees stress management techniques can be helpful, but if the constant pressure source is bad leadership, shouldn’t fixing this be the priority and ultimately cause a lasting positive change for the entire team? 🧘Traditional whole-self well-being initiatives don’t work and do not have long-term impact: With businesses offering many perks to their employees, do they believe they actually work, or are they just superficial solutions? Would employees benefit more from addressing workloads or offering flexible working solutions?
