There are projects and then there are MEGA projects. Rewilding of Loch Katrine is most definitely a MEGA project - nearly 6500 football pitches of woodland and peatland restoration that will capture a million tonnes of carbon over the next 60 years 🤯. Great partnership with Forestry and Land Scotland and led by our fantastic Scottish Water #NetZero team. Well done to all involved including Gordon Reid, Mark Williams, Elise Cartmell 👏👏👏
A scheme to create one of the biggest new woodlands in Europe at an iconic Scottish loch - and protect water supplies for generations to come - has taken a major step forward. The 10-year Land Management Plan for Scottish Water's Loch Katrine estate - developed in partnership with long-term tenant Forestry and Land Scotland - has been approved by Scottish Forestry, and will see the lands around the loch boost the fight against the climate crisis. Plans for the site, which is located in the heart of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, include: ▶️The creation of over 4,600 hectares – the equivalent of more than 6440 football pitches – of native woodland, largely through re-wilding and natural regeneration ▶️The restoration and maintenance of several hundred hectares of peatland READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/eDby7U25 #ScottishClimateWeek #NetZero #woodlandcreation #carboncapture

It was fantastic to see Duncan Scott MBE and Toni Shaw at the Royal Commonwealth Pool yesterday for a celebration of school swimming. Thank you to all our partners at sportscotland Scottish Water and Edinburgh Leisure for attending and hosting this event which highlighted the importance of school swimming and the need for government investment to implement the National Primary School Swimming Framework across Scotland. A great turn out from the media and always very entertaining and enjoyable seeing the Q and A with school children and our ambassadors who fielded the questions perfectly and asked a few of their own around water safety. #Schoolswimming #LearntoSwimMonth

We are buzzing with the great coverage of our Scottish Water-supported schools swimming programme pilots led by Scottish Swimming. It's more than just a splash in the pool - it's children learning a skill that could save a life. Having worked with Scottish Swimming since 2017 on Learn to Swim, our commitment to water safety has really created waves this time round on BBC and STV. Holyrood PR 👏

We used one of our volunteer days to do a litter pick at Yellowcraig Beach yesterday. Lovely way to spend the day, do some good and chat with colleagues. I forgave them for singing Happy Birthday in the cafe afterwards because it was accompanied by a cake they hid the boot! 😂❤️ Mark Hunter John McCall IEng MICE Scottish Water

We're delighted to be teaming up with Aberdeen Science Centre (ASC) to deliver a programme of water cycle workshops aimed at inspiring hundreds of school children across the north-east to become responsible water citizens. The partnership, announced one year after Scottish Water launched its nationwide education programme Generation H2O, will see ASC deliver a series of workshops focused on the various stages of the water cycle, including the processes involved in making water safe to drink. These will be sponsored by Scottish Water and available to schools across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray and parts of Angus. It was great to have some P5 pupils join us from Hanover Street Primary School to take part in a workshop at ASC as part of the announcement! This is a truly transformative, large scale woodland creation and peatland restoration, in an iconic setting, which will deliver mitigation and adaptation to climate change, bring real gains for biodiversity, and protect precious water supplies. I am very proud of the teams at Scottish Water and Forestry and Land Scotland and others who have worked so hard to make this happen.
