Exciting news from Low Carbon Materials (LCM)! Their innovative solution for net-zero asphalt is now being used for a pilot project underway on a UK motorway, thanks to their collaboration with National Highways!
🛣️ Huge Announcement! Our decarbonisation solution for asphalt was piloted by National Highways on a UK motorway. ✳️ ACLA® is a carbon-negative aggregate that significantly lowers the carbon footprint of asphalt. 🟩 With the support of both Skanska and Tarmac, ACLA® was piloted on the northbound carriageway of the M11 in Essex. 🚧 It has also been incorporated into essential resurfacing and maintenance work between junctions 7-8. 🟢 A test strip of asphalt binder course containing our carbon-negative aggregate was laid last month. 🚙 This signals the first time our solution is being tested on a heavily trafficked motorway and will be subject to the scrutiny of National Highway’s routine monitoring processes. ⚡ Testing of ACLA® was made possible thanks to our partners National Highways, Skanska and Tarmac as part of a Accelerating Low Carbon innovation program hosted by Connected Places Catapult. 🟨 We are proud to receive recognition from National Highways that our solution presents a viable and scalable option for decarbonising the UK’s road network. ⏩ Read more about this milestone here: https://lnkd.in/d7P4wT9Y ⬇️ ACLA® has already been used to decarbonise live road projects across the UK, including at: 🚧 Elvet Hill in Durham, in partnership with Durham County Council and MGL Group. 🚧 Lodge Hill Road in London, in partnership with London Borough of Redbridge and Kenson Highways. 🛎️ Stay tuned for more project announcements very soon! 💬 If you would like to work with us to decarbonise road infrastructure projects, reach out to us today. #SustainableConstruction #LowCarbonMaterials #NetZero #LocalRoads #Decarbonisation

Huge progress for 2022 Finalist Low Carbon Materials (LCM). We're thrilled to see that ACLA® their groundbreaking carbon-negative solution for asphalt, has been for a road resurfacing project for the first time in London!
✳️ Paving the way to net zero in London - Low Carbon Materials (LCM)’ innovative decarbonisation solution is used in London for the first time 🏙️ London Borough of Redbridge is the first in London to incorporate our groundbreaking carbon-negative solution for asphalt - ACLA® 🛣️ The resurfacing works, which used ACLA®, took place on Lodge Hill Road in partnership with Kenson Highways, Tarmac, and Redbridge Council during London Climate Action Week. ⬇️ Key project statistics: ✅ Using ACLA® in the asphalt mix supplied by Tarmac reduced the project's carbon footprint by 68% 🚙 That’s a saving of carbon emissions equivalent to an average UK car driving 17,400 miles. 0️⃣ The entire middle layer of the new road at Lodge Hill Road was also net zero. ♻️ The project incorporated Recycled Asphalt Planings (RAP) to enhance emissions savings with an additional circular approach. ⏩ For full details of the new project, click here: https://lnkd.in/d7F5SZrT. 🟩 This significant announcement follows shortly after ACLA® was used in a road resurfacing project in County Durham. 💬 If you would like to work with us to decarbonise your local infrastructure, reach out to us today.
