Plenty of growth in store 📦 We believe long-term demographic trends are likely to drive increased demand for self-storage in Europe. Gregory Cooper, Managing Director, Hines United Kingdom, spoke to PropertyEU about our plans to scale-up a UK self-storage portfolio, beginning in densely populated commuter towns where large-scale housing development is expected to increase local populations significantly. Greg commented on the future opportunity to aggregate a pan-European portfolio on behalf of our Hines European Real Estate Partners III (HEREP III) Fund, leveraging Hines’ skillset and local “boots-on-the-ground” approach to take advantage of a highly fragmented market. We have grown our Multi-Let Urban Logistics Platform with a new acquisition in Oldham. The 7.5-acre logistics site was acquired through a joint venture with Chancerygate, backed by Hines European Real Estate Partners III (HEREP III). We are pleased to extend our partnership with Chancerygate as we look to scale our urban logistics platform with a focus on multi-let, which we believe is an attractive sector for investors with strong potential to deliver sustainable returns. Subject to planning, the JV will speculatively develop 166,500 square feet of Grade A sustainable multi-let urban logistics space on the site, with 18 leasehold units ranging in size. Situated at Broadway Green on Lydia Becker Way, the site offers excellent connectivity, just six-and-a-half miles northeast of Manchester, near Junction 21 of the M60.
